Let's get to know each other a bit more...

A volunteer writes: What a sweetie. She is a little shy but loves attention. She loves being petted and then retreats for a minute but then comes back and she loves to look around to see who else is here and what is going on. Gentleness, your name is Tortie. A sweetie. This is a truly sweet huggable and sociable kitty. She rubs up against the bars the minute you approach her. She loves as much attention as you can give and she talks to you to let you know how happy she is. She is also a beauty. She would be a great member of any family.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Tortie was brought in as a stray, so we don't have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 6/11/18 BAR, active at kennel front. Seeking attention.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 5/31/18 Resting in litter box, alert, eyes dilated. Poked head out to main compartment to eat offered treats, retreated back into cubby when door opened, seemed wary. Hunched down in litter box, allowed, slowly leaned into pets, closed eyes, lowered head. 6/3/18 Curled up in litter box, eyes dilated, looking around. Shifted back and closed eyes tightly when door opened, seemed really fearful. Allowed pets, lowered head, hid face in litter box. Poked head out to main compartment for treats after left alone for a while. 6/4/18 Curled up in litter box, eyes dilated, seemed wary. Lay in place when door opened, put ears sideways, closed eyes again. Allowed, slightly leaned into pets, lowered head. Ate nearby treats after door closed. 6/5/18 Curled up inside cubby, but pokes her head out to explore around her kennel. She lies back inside her cubby and chirps when pet, but her body is a little tense and her ears tilt sideways. She warms up after a few strokes and lifts her rear. Loves treats, will follow me out to her main kennel space to eat and allow petting all over, lifting her rear and leaning in for rubs. When interaction ends, she stays by the front and looks around. 6/7/18 Lying down on her cage cubby on approach with soft eyes, she engages with loose body, tail high, leans into the petting and purrs while she enjoys treats that were given.
