Hello, my name is Rockstar. My animal id is #56449. I am a male brown dog at the . The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 2 months 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 3/6/2019, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too big.

Rockstar is at risk for medical reasons. Rockstar was diagnosed with canine infectious respiratory disease complex which is contagious to other animals and will require in home care. Behaviorally, Rockstar seems uncomfortable with unfamiliarity people and has exhibited barrier reactivity toward people and other dogs. Rockstar would benefit from reward based behavior modification.

From the second I met Rockstar, I instantly became his groupie. He is quite the charmer outside his kennel, seeking attention and wagging his tail. He never complains about my choice of treats and even gets excited to see me. He's making an appearance at MACC now, so make like paparazzi and come see him.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~1yr based on O hx. Microchip noted on Intake? scanned negative. placed by LVT History : O surrendered due to financial constraints. Subjective / Observed Behavior - BAR, growling, snarling and hard barking. Staring and tense while hard barking at people walking into the room. Easily distracted by food but quickly redirects to hands during handling./ Evidence of Cruelty seen - none Evidence of Trauma seen - none Objective BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears have moderate black debris, AU; no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: did not evaluate due to behavior PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: No murmur ausculted; CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: intact male. scrotum is crusted and erythematous, painful on palpation MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: externally normal. Assessment otitis externa scrotal dermatitis, focal Prognosis: excellent Plan: simplicef 200mg tablet -- give 1 tablet PO q24h x 7 days when sedated for sx, ear cleaning and claro otic application SURGERY: Okay for surgery; will need prescrotal incision if P scrotum is not fully healed at time of sx

SO BAR in kennel. Hard barking and growling at kennel front. EN -- eyes are clear. P is sneezing repeatedly during observation. No nasal discharge seen A CIRDC P move to ISO doxycycline 100mg tablet -- give 2 tablets PO q24h x 14 days enrofloxacin 136mg tablet -- give 1.5 tablet PO q24h x 14 days cerenia 60mg tablet -- give 0.5 tablet PO q24h x 4 days

Upon intake, Rockstar had a tense body. he was barking at people walking across the care center but allowed all handling.

Basic Information:: Rockstar is a 1 year old brown male medium mixed breed dog. Previous owner got rockstar from a friend and had him for about a month. She is surrendering him because she is unable to care for.

How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers, Rockstar is timid and is unsure of new people he may growl or bark

How is this dog around children?: Rockstar has been around a small child. He is playful and outgoing.

How is this dog around other dogs?: Rockstar has been around a small mixed breed dog. He is super friendly with this dog and playful as well.

How is this dog around cats?: Rockstar has not been around cats. his behaviour is unknown

Resource guarding:: Rockstar will growl when his food bowl toys or treats are touched. Rockstar will bark if someone unfamiliar approach the yard or home.

Bite history:: Rockstar has not bitten another person or animal before.

Other Notes:: Rockstar has received a bath from the owner, he enjoyed the bath. He has not received a nail trimmings. He likes to be held and picked up. Rockstar will cry and whine when the owner leaves.

Medical Notes: Rockstar came into ACC with an abrasion on his scrotum. He has no other known medical concerns or issues.

For a New Family to Know: Rockstar is a High energy, Friendly, affectionate and playful dog. Previous owner's favorite thing about rockstar is that he is a sweetheart and is a great companion. He enjoys cuddling. Rockstar has been kept indoors only outdoor for walks. He will pull on the leash. He is afraid of storms and fire works. He knows how to sit stay and give paw

Summary:: The previous owner of Rockstar describes his behavior around dogs as being "friendly". A period of decompression is recommended before immediate introduction to dogs. Future introductions should be conducted at a slow pace. 3/9: When introduced through the fence to a female greeter dog, Rockstar growls. When introduced off leash he greets politely but is highly fixated on her. When she moves away he chases with high intensity, but just continues to sniff.

IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: While Rockstar has displayed in kennel/barrier reactivity towards novel people, he warms up outside the kennel. He is highly treat motivated and will allow soft touch.
