I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 11/3/2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- cannot afford to care for.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Toby is at risk for medical, he is a geriatric dog that will require follow up at a private vet to further diagnose his underlying conditions. There are no behavior concerns at this time.

CAXR: Chest: Heart wnl, trachea wnl, pulmonary vessels wnl, mild to moderate bronchointerstitial lung pattern (r/o normal for old dog vs. bronchitis vs. infection vs. other) Abdomen: Large amount of ingesta in stomach and slightly distended, some gas and fluid in intestines, mineral opacity located around the level of the right kidney vs. in small intestines overlying right kidney (r/o ingesta vs. kidney stone), multiple mineral opacities throughout intestines (likely ingesta vs. fb vs. other), spleen looks mildly enlarged otherwise wnl Conclusion: 1:Mineral opacities throughout small intestines (suspect ingesta) 2:+/- mineral opacity in right kidney vs. suspect more likely in small intestine 3:Distended stomach with ingesta 4:Bronchointerstitial pattern in lungs-likely normal for his age 5:Mild splenomegaly Nothing concerning on x-rays

SO One episode of reported soft stool within the kennel. BAR in kennel. P is standing at front of kennel. Symptoms board also indicates P did not eat on 11/9 EN -- eyes and nose are clear. No discharge seen. A one episode soft stool -- r/o early CIRDC, dietary, stress P continue to monitor in shelter. no tx at this time.

Behavior Condition: 1. Green

Upon intake, Toby had a loose body and approached me right away and allowed me to pet him and collar him. Once on the leash, Toby paced back and forth and pulled hard on the leash. Toby walked well on the leash and allowed me to place him into his kennel. Once inside, Toby began to bark and pace back and forth.

Basic Information:: Toby is approximately an 11 year old male black and brown small mixed breed dog. Toby lived with previous owner for 11 years. Toby was surrendered because the owner could no longer afford to care for him.

How is this dog around strangers?: Toby will sometimes bark at strangers. Toby will allow strangers to approach him slowly and will allow to be pet.

How is this dog around children?: Toby previously lived with two children aged 8 and 14 year old. Toby is described as being friendly and playful. Toby will play gentle with the children.

How is this dog around other dogs?: Toby has never interacted with dogs.

How is this dog around cats?: Toby has never interacted with cats.

Resource guarding:: Toby is not bothered when his food or bowl is touched while he is eating. Toby is not bothered when a toy or treat is taken away from him.

Bite history:: Toby has never bitten another animal or human.

Housetrained:: Partially

Energy level/descriptors:: Toby has a medium energy level.

Other Notes:: When Toby hears fireworks or when he hears the door bell ring he will begin to bark. Toby is not bothered when being bathed, when his nails trimmed or his coat brushed. Toby will bark when an unfamiliar approaches his owner or a family member.

Medical Notes: Toby has no known medical issues. Toby has not been to the vet recently.

For a New Family to Know: Toby is a friendly, playful, affectionate, mellow, and confident dog. Toby loves to play with his rope toy and loves to play tug. When at home, Toby is independent and likes to roam around the house. Toby was kept mostly indoors and was fed Beneful dry food once a day. Toby is partially house trained and would use wee-wee pads or newspaper. Toby would rarely urinate around the house. Toby has never been crate trained. When out for walks, Toby will pull hard on the leash. Toby has never been walked off the leash.
