Hello, my name is Jen. My animal id is #11573. I am a female brown tabby cat at the . The shelter thinks I am about 6 months old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 11/3/2017, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too many animals already.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Jen is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: ~2months Microchip noted on Intake? no History : Stray, litter of 3 kittens Subjective: Observed Behavior - BARH. Allows all handling Evidence of Cruelty seen - no Evidence of Trauma seen - no Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Teeth erupting normally, pink mm, no oral ulcers PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female MSI: Ambulatory x 4, fleas, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Apparently healthy, littermates with conjunctivitis Plan: Rec erythromycin OU q12 x 10 days, doxycycline 0.2ml PO Q24 x 10 days due to exposure to littermates with severe conjunctivitis and being placed in isolation with them Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY Temporarily waived due to conjunctivitis

Basic Information:: Jen is a brown tabby that is possibly 4 months old. The owner bred Jen cat home. The owner is surrendering Jen his other cat due to having to many cats.

If yes, Please elaborate:: The kitten uses the litter box. That he shared with 5 other cats. However the owner did not clean the litter box frequently, so the kitten defecated and urinates outside the litter.

Previously lived with:: 4 adults

How is this cat around strangers?: never been around children. Just lived with the 4 adults in the home.

How is this cat around children?: The kitten has never lived with dogs.

How is this cat around other cats?: The Jaz lived with 5 other cats. They all lived in harmony and played chase around the house.

How is this cat around dogs?: Never been around dogs.

Behavior Notes: The kitten was never bathed nor had his nails trimmed. The kitten allows to be picked up, brushed and walks into his carrier.

Bite history:: Never had a bite history.

Energy level/descriptors:: high energy

For a New Family to Know: Jen is described as playful,friendly and affectionate. The kitten loves mouse stuffed toys and strings. The kitten ate a diet of dry or wet cat food of any brand.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: 4 adults and 5 other cats Behavior toward strangers: Did not interact with strangers, only interacted with the family Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Lived in harmony, played chase around the home Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Has litter box accidents, however the owner reports she was sharing one litter box with five other cats and the owner did not clean the litter box frequently. Energy level/descriptors: Jen is described as playful, friendly and affectionate with a high activity level. Other notes: The kitten loves mouse stuffed toys and strings.

Reaction to assessor:: Jen was lying down, calm and relaxed.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Jen turns to face the assessor and blinks softly.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Jen becomes alert and retreats to her other kennel space.

Reaction to touch:: Jen was hesitant, but sniffs the assessor's hand and allows petting. She begins to purr and remains in place.

Reaction to being picked up:: Jen is a bit tense, but allows handling and will wiggle to be placed back down.

Potential challenges comments:: Jen previous owner reports he has been eliminating outside the litter box. We are unaware if any modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior, but please note that his previous living situation may have contributed to the behavior seen (Jen previously lived in a home with 5 other cats who all shared a single litter box, which was not cleaned frequently). We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a different home environment, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. He has been using the litter box appropriately during his stay in the care center.
