Animal Profile

Athena

Hello, my name is Athena. My animal id is #66127. I am a desexed female brown dog at the . The shelter thinks I am about 6 years 7 months 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 12/26/2019, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- cannot afford to care for.

Reserved

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Athena was placed at risk due to behavioral concerns; she is no longer thriving in the shelter environment and her behavior is deteriorating rapidly. We are recommending placement with an experienced adopter. Athena was diagnosed with Allergies and Dermatitis.

You may know me from such films as...

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

A volunteer writes: If there was a beauty pageant for the dogs of BACC, I would win Miss Congeniality! I'm Athena and I am the friendliest dog here. I love meeting new people, being around people, and getting cuddles from people - that is, when I stop wagging and wiggling, (which is almost never)! I'm always in a good mood, even though I have this uncomfy skin allergy. The nice people here are helping me restore my pretty, rust-colored coat so I can win all the beauty contests. I'm six years old and I've lived with cats. (I'm nice to them as long as they don't try to steal my food!) I'm a high-energy girl and I love squeaky toys. Maybe you can bring me one? I'd love to meet you!

My medical notes are...

Your newly adopted pet has been diagnosed with dermatitis and the staff veterinarians are issuing a TEMPORARY waiver from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY. Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment through to the resolution of the issue. At the time of a full recovery you may choose to have your veterinarian perform the spay/neuter surgery, or make provisions to return the pet to ACC for sterilization.
