This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Bo is on emergency placement for behavior concerns. Bo has displayed high levels of stress and frustration while in the kennel. Bo has been observed to spin, bounce against the walls, and hard bark at the corner of his kennel towards the other neighboring dogs. Medically, Bo is apparently healthy but has wounds on his paws from banging on his transfer door repeatedly from kennel deterioration. Treatment was started to help with this. Bo was surrendered to the care centers by his previous owner. His owner describes him to be fearful around strangers and can play either gently or rough with adults he is comfortable with. This was noted upon intake when he growled at a staff member. His behavior around children is unknown. He previously lived with another large dog and a small dog whom he was gentle with but could play rough with them. In one instance during play, he nipped the larger dog in the home. With cats, he is reported to be aggressive around cats. He does not guard his possession around people he is familiar with. His owner overall states that Bo is an affectionate dog who loves balls, squeaks, stuffed toys, and bones. In the care center, Bo has been social with handlers who use a slow approach and offer treats. He has also shown a high level of anxiety, scratching at the transfer door to get into other dogs' kennels and jumping up very high. Due to all noted behaviors, we recommend an adult-only home with no cats or small animals. Utilizing a force-free approach is advised to help him acclimate to new environments and people.

Upon intake, Bo had a very tense body, was on a guarding position. When owner was asked how is the dog with strangers, he explained the dog will growl at strangers. treats were tossed like beef milk bones which Bo ate quickly. Bo's body became a bit loose as more treats were tossed. Didn't growl at all as I approached owner multiple times. Owner scanned the dog for me. Mc negative. When a dog was passing by the lobby, Bo started to bark and tried lunging at the other dog. When an ACS member approached the owner from afar, Bo tensed up, growled and got in a guarding position under the owner chair.
