Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Lady is at risk for medical reasons. Lady was diagnosed with canine infectious respiratory disease complex which is contagious to other animals and will require in home care. Behaviorally, Lady has been a bit anxious at the care center and has shown some sensitives to touch. An interested adopter should understand these behaviors and be willing to provide Lady with a slow approach during interactions and gradually introduce her to new surroundings and people.

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

A volunteer writes: Meet Lady, a petite treasure whose boisterous kennel behavior belies her real world personality as a quiet wallflower still searching for that special someone to love. She's a friendly gal and super social in playgroup, literally bouncing around with her peers, but when it comes to humans she's not quite so confident and a patient family with no children but plenty of doggie playdates would be the perfect setting to bring her out of her shell. A truly doe-eyed beauty, Lady is blessed with the most appealing come-pet-me face and fur so silky smooth it's hard to keep your hands off her but the key to earning her trust is always a slow, gentle approach. Believe me, she's worth the wait. Once that connection is made she'll come when called, sit for treats and lean deep into your legs for petting and she was very patient when I dressed her in a coat and insisted we snap a selfie together. Lady may not be the flashiest pet around but she has a special inner light that comes straight from her heart and for the adopter wise enough to see and embrace it, she's going to shine like a little star.

My medical notes are...

ENERGY LEVEL:: Since Lady is a stray, we do not know what her energy level will be in a home environment. At the care center, she has shown a medium energy level.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: Level 3

Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable

Recommendations:: No children (under 13)

Recommendations comments:: Due to her touch sensitivity, we recommend that Lady be placed in an adult only home.

Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Anxiety,Kennel presence

Potential challenges comments:: Lady has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when touching her collar, or back legs. It is important to always go slow and give Lady the option to walk away from any social interaction. Please see the handout on Touch Sensitivity to help manage this behavior. Lady has shown some anxiety at the care center. We have no history on her behavior in a home environment, so we do not know if this will occur outside of the care center. If it does appear in a future home, we recommend puzzle toys, long walks, and giving her other things to focus on to alleviate her anxiety. Please see the handout on Anxiety to help manage this behavior. Lady is also having trouble exiting her kennel, and her fear in the kennel has made her presence difficult. While this is a very kennel specific behavior, we cannot be sure if this will continue in a home environment. We recommend potential adopters be comfortable managing this behavior and keeping themselves safe in any similar future situations. Please see the handout on Kennel Presence to help manage this behavior.
