Animal Profile

Marlin

Hello, my name is Marlin. My animal id is #25186. I am a male gray dog at the . The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a agency on 4/13/2018.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Marlin is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs, and will require treatment with antibiotics, likely for 14 days. Marlin is also underweight, and has dental disease and a heart murmur. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Marlin, whom we believe would be suitable to most homes.

You may know me from such films as...

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

A volunteer writes: Serious as a Beaver. So quiet in his kennel but ready when you are. This is Marlin who so knows that my pocket is full of treats. He hovers around me, then sits at once with an anxious look on his face when he sees my hand holding a dry liver nugget. He can be eager taking treats but corrects nicely after "counseling". Marlin needs a little more meat around the bones and he will be one handsome and attractive bachelor. He is quite obedient, food motivated and likely as a result, very trainable. Marlin is a good walker, likely house trained(very) and polite with other dogs neared. He meets for now only gals in playgroups with his peers where he has been polite, playful and a gentleman. Marlin did not play yet with me but he clearly enjoyed caresses and butt scratches. At some point(not caught on camera), he forgot all about his solemness and rolled on his side for belly rubs. I bet that Marlin will do just that once he is home with you, well fed, safe and mostly loved. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue

Upon intake, Marlin approached me with a wagging tail and sniffed my legs. Marlin allowed me to place a leash on him and pulled hard when he heard the other dogs. Marlin allowed me to collar him and then pulled hard towards the back where the dogs were. Marlin became tense when I tried to get him into the kennel and pulled back to avoid going in. I was unable to place Marlin in the kennel and he remained by my side where he laid down and would whine.
