I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 12/21/2017, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too many animals already.

Mike is at risk due to medical condition, Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. He came in with 2 litter mates who are also at risk due to medical conditions. There are no behavior concerns for Mike at this time.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Reported 3 months - exam is consistent with this Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned neg on intake - placed MC during exam History : Surrendered with two littermates - one has a heart murmur and a congenital deformity (missing distal RFL), the other is apparently healthy Subjective: Alert, walks around exam table Observed Behavior - Allows handling Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 6/9 EENT: Mild mucoid and serous ocular discharge, no blepharospasm. Mild serous nasal discharge. Clean ears. Oral Exam: Clean deciduous teeth - adult incisors coming in PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Male, bilateral cryptorchid MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: 1. [Spay/Neuter Waiver - Upper Respiratory Illness] Your newly adopted animal is in treatment for an upper respiratory illness. The veterinarian is temporarily waiving this animal from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY until such time as the illness has resolved and the pet has sufficiently recovered. At that time, this animal must come into compliance with the spay/neuter requirements.

Hx: Admitted with mild URI/conjunctivitis; littermates were also sick. Moved to isolation. Later started on terramycin for blepharospasm. S/O: Alert in kennel. Mild epiphora, no nasal discharge, no blepharospasm today. A: URI/conjunctivitis resolving as expected P: Continue tx, recheck tomorrow 1088

Upon intake Mike allowed all handling. He allowed counselor to lift him and collar. He was receptive to head and body touches and allowed counselor to place him in a carrier. He was purring and kneading and was overall very affectionate.

Basic Information:: Mike is a roughly 3 month old kitten whom was surrendered with 2 other litter mates. They were kept in the same home since they were first born however could not be kept due to too many pets.

If yes, Please elaborate:: This kitten knows how to use a litter box but was accustomed to using a box with no litter. Previous owner stated that he can use either or.

How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers he is described as shy for a few minutes, outgoing and plays exuberantly.

How is this cat around children?: Around children he is described as relaxed, respectful and plays gentle

How is this cat around other cats?: Around cats he is described as relaxed, respectful and plays gentle

How is this cat around dogs?: He has not been socialized with dogs so this behavior is unknown

Behavior Notes: Mike will occasionally scratch the furniture and will sleep during car rides. He isn't bothered by getting a bath, having his nails trimmed, being held, being brushed or being placed in a carrier.
