Powder
Hello, my name is Powder. My animal id is #232096. I am a female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 7/15/2025.
Powder is at risk due to medical reasons. Powder came to the shelter with a history of vomiting. In shelter she tested positive for panleukopenia, but seems to be responding well to treatment, including antibody administration, and supportive care. Powder has been timid, but has allowed all handling for her treatments. Powder will need to remain in isolation until her panleukopenia has cleared.

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 1
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Powder was at the front of the kennel with her head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a soft body and eyes. When spoken to and opening the door, she pauses to cough, and then welcomes petting on the head. She leans in for cheek rubs and keeps her hips and tail up when stroking her body. During pick up, she is calm and relaxed with her legs limp when held for 5 seconds. After placing her back down, she continues to appreciate more petting and cheek rubs. Powder interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience who demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
