I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 1/7/2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving - no pets allowed.

Autumn is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Autumn, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.

URI P -move to isolation -due to high suspicion of viral URI, antibiotics are not recommended unless mucoid nasal discharge develops or course is severe/prolonged

Day 7 in isolation for URI, viral suspected initially so did not start doxycycline S/O -QAR/BAR, approaches in a friendly manner -good appetite -soft sneezing, moist nares with mild bloody nasal discharge -OU: open and clear -eupnic A 1. URI P -add doxycycline 1.1 ml PO SID x 10 days -recheck in 3 days

Upon intake, Autumn was in a crouched position with dilated eyes. Due to the nature of the intake, the owner collared Autumn and helped transfer her in to a new carrier without picking her up.

Basic Information:: Autumn is a 5 year old spayed domestic short hair. The owner found Autumn in a trash can when she was a kitten and decided to keep her. The owner is surrendering because she is moving to an apartment where they do not allow pets. Autumn's last vet visit was a year ago for routine vaccines.

How is this cat around strangers?: Autumn is very shy when strangers come over to the home and hides when they come over. Autumn is so fearful that she will avoid walking past strangers to use her litter box so she will just eliminate where ever she is.

How is this cat around children?: Autumn has been around children before and hides in fear until they leave.

How is this cat around other cats?: Autumn has lived with a male cat her entire life and she was very relaxed and respectful with him, she played gently with him.

How is this cat around dogs?: Autumn has never been around dogs.

Behavior Notes: Autumn is quiet during car rides. Autumn hisses, struggles, and tries to swat when she is bathed, when she is picked up and held, and when she is put into a carrier. The owner has never trimmed Autumn's nails. Autumn enjoys being brushed and absolutely enjoys being petted as long as she is not picked up.

Bite history:: Autumn has never bitten anyone but scratched her owner this morning while being put into a carrier.

For a New Family to Know: Autumn is described as shy and mellow. The owner's favorite thing about Autumn is how quiet she is and how much she enjoys being petted. Autumn's favorite thing to do is sit on the window perches in her home and look out of the window while she sun bathes. When the owner is home, Autumn rarely seeks attention. Autumn does not play with any toys. Autumn is kept indoors only. Autumn sleeps in her own bed or on her cat tree. The owner feeds Autumn Nutro dry food, 1/2 a cup twice a day. Autumn uses an uncovered litter box with pellet litter. Autumn uses a 4 tier scratching post made out of carpet, rough rope, and cardboard.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/7/18 Observed Behavior - Hunched posture, low to table, allows full exam

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/8/18 Resting under kuranda bed, mostly hidden behind bedding, eyes dilated, tense. Became alert when door opened, sat up, started moving slowly away and lip licking. Sniffed hand, clearly unsure, then started to lean and arch into pets, and purred. Needs time to adjust. 1/9/18 Resting under kuranda bed, behind bedding, a little tense, eyes dilated. Stood and immediately came forward when door opened. Brief hesitation when first touched, but warmed up quickly. Head-butted, leaned and arched into pets, purred loudly. Slowly ate treats after door closed. On second visit, came immediately to front again, leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets with no hesitation. 1/10/18 Resting under kuranda bed, alert and wide-eyed, but otherwise soft posture. Stood and came to the front when door opened. Head-butted, leaned and arched into pets, purred. Still a little timid, tends to startle from loud noises, but overall very affectionate. 1/13/18 Lying down on her cage bedding, immediately stands with tail up when cage door opens and engages. She chirps and solicits during the interaction and purrs. 1/14/18 Dozing under kuranda bed, woke when spoken to. Meowed and came immediately to the front, soft eyes and body, started rubbing against the bars. Stayed at the front when door opened. Leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets, ate offered treats. 1/16/18 Diagnosed with URI, moved to iso. Resting in litter box, soft eyes and body. Stood when spoken to, came to the front. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, sat calmly when held.
