I came into the shelter as a stray on 2/19/2018.

Linus is at risk due to medical condition, FIV positive. Linus also has some skin lesions that adopter should be prepared to manage care for. There are no behavior concerns for Linus at this time, average determination.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 2yo Microchip noted on Intake? neg Microchip Number (If Applicable): History : Stray Subjective: BAR. Nervous but curious and sniffing around alot. Does not like face being touched or examined. Well behaved for PE with gentle restraint and examining slowly. Observed Behavior - Evidence of Cruelty seen - n Evidence of Trauma seen - n Objective T = P = wnl R = eup BCS 5/9 EENT: Dried discharge OU along medial canthi, ears clear, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: p would not allow PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. small to mod sized bladder, soft, non painful U/G: MI, 2 testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat. On both caudal thighs, there is a linear area of alopecia (5-7cm), skin is erythematous and flakey. CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment: intact skin lesion on caudal thighs -- r/o allergies vs self induced vs ectoparasites vs other FIV+ Prognosis: fair Plan: plan for neuter If lesion on thighs worsens, consider derm work-up and place e-collar SURGERY: Okay for surgery

Brief recheck Linear areas of alopecia, crusting, and flakey skin on both caudal thighs appears improved. Wood's lamp negative.

2/24/2018

Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by ASPCA. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision.

Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow

Upon intake he had a loose body and relaxed tail. He charged out of his carrier and was really interested in treats. He ate the treats and stood by them. He allowed the counselor to collared him. He was receptive to handling. He went right back inside the carrier in search for food.

Basic Information:: Linus is a domestic short hair gray tabby and white male cat. He was found inside a building and brought in to the care center as a stray.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Linus was brought in as a stray, so we don't have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 2/20/18 Subjective: BAR. Nervous but curious and sniffing around a lot. Does not like face being touched or examined. Well behaved for PE with gentle restraint and examining slowly.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 2/20/18 Resting on bedding under kuranda bed, soft eyes and body. Sat up and became alert when door opened. Came forward to sniff assess-hand, started eating offered treats. Leaned away and moved slowly around cage to avoid touch. 2/21/18 Much braver today! At the front on approach, soft eyes and body, looking around. Stayed at the front when door opened, immediately started eating offered treats. Leaned and arched into pets, lifted rear for butt scratches. Ate more treats from my hand.

Cage Condition:: No change

Reaction to assessor:: Linus remains neutral, sitting upright by the front during the approach.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Linus stands in place with normal shape eyes.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Linus seeks affection, leans forward with tail up and remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed.

Reaction to touch:: Linus head rubs the assessor's hand, but attempts to explore outside the cage losing focus with the interaction.
