I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 4/15/2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- no time for animal.

Tiger is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Tiger can go to an average home.

[Spay/Neuter Waiver - Upper Respiratory Illness] Your newly adopted animal is in treatment for an upper respiratory illness. The veterinarian is temporarily waiving this animal from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY until such time as the illness has resolved and the pet has sufficiently recovered. At that time, this animal must come into compliance with the spay/neuter requirements.

ACR: check on stertor/nasal discharge; continue with nebulization v. not S/O: Cat is Q/BAR in cage. Minimal to no ocular/nasal discharge. No audible congestion or sneezing noted. Food in tray partially eaten. A: URI, resolving P: Okay to d/c nebulization. Continue to monitor while at BACC.

Basic Information:: Tiger is an 8 year old orange tabby male cat that was surrendered by his owner due to the fact she no longer has time for him. She stated that she got Tiger from someone when he was 8 weeks old.

How is this cat around strangers?: Owner stated that when around strangers Tiger is friendly and outgoing. when playing with adults he is gentle.

How is this cat around children?: Tiger has spent time in the home around children and he is relaxed and affectionate. When playing with children he is gentle.

How is this cat around other cats?: Tiger has spent timer in the home around another cat and he was relaxed and affectionate. ?when playing with her he is gentle.

How is this cat around dogs?: Tiger has not spent time in the home around dog so it is unknown how he will react.

Behavior Notes: Owner stated that overall tiger behaves well. On the way to ACC in the car he was meowing. Tiger will tolerate being bathed brushed and having his nails trimmed. Tiger enjoys being held. He also isn't bothered if he is put in a carrier or disturbed when he is sleeping.

For a New Family to Know: Owner described Tiger as friendly affectionate and playful. When at home he likes to sit in his owners lap or follow her around. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 04/18/18 Social and friendly

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 04/16/18 Crouched in litterbox, body slightly tense. He makes eye contact as kennel door opens, ears forward, and warms up once touched. Arches into petting, allowing touch along his head and body. Stands up and steps forward, tail raised. Vocalizes when I stop petting him and reaches out towards me. Very sweet and affectionate – doing well despite medical condition!

Reaction to assessor:: Tiger was lying down low inside his litter box and watching the assessor with wide eyes.

Reaction when softly spoken to:: Tiger's ears tilt forward, and he perks up when spoken to softly.

Reaction to cage door opening:: Tiger remains calm.

Reaction to touch:: Tiger meows softly and slowly approaches the front of the kennel to interact with the assessor. He leans in for rubs on his cheeks, his tail rises and he allows gentle petting along his body.

Reaction to being picked up:: Tiger was a bit tense when picked up, but he remains calm and allows all handling.
