I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 10/8/2018, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving.

Melody was placed at risk due to behavioral concerns; she is not acclimating well to the shelter environment and will benefit from a more stable environment. she is displaying distant-increasing behavior at this moment, we are recommending placement with an Experienced cat adopter based on behavioral observations. Melody was diagnosed with a Heart murmur.

Behavior during intake: Melody had a tense body and was hiding in the back of the carrier during intake. Counselor was able to transfer from one carrier to another, scan for a microchip, collar and take a picture without any issues.

Basic Information:: Melody is a 6 month old female that has no previous or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner had Melody as an indoor/outdoor cat for almost 6 months but had to surrender due to moving

How is this cat around children?: Melody was around a 6 year old child and was relaxed and respectful around the child

How is this cat around other cats?: Melody has been around another female cat and a male cat and was relaxed and respectful around both animals

How is this cat around dogs?: Melody has been around a female large breed dog and was relaxed and respectful around the other animal

Behavior Notes: Owner has never tried to bathe Melody, trim her nails or brush her coat so behavior is unknown. She is not bothered when someone brushes her coat, being picked up and held, being put into a carrier or being disturbed while sleeping.

She used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Owner had a scratching post made of carpet that Melody liked to use. She was fed dry food only (different brands).

Reaction to cage door opening:: Melody watches the assessor as the kennel door opens. She tenses up slightly and wrapped her tail around her body.

Reaction to touch:: Melody allows all petting and eventually leans in. She approaches the assessor when given treats but moves to the back of the kennel when pet.
