Animal Profile

Brooklyn

Hello, my name is Brooklyn . My animal id is #54844. I am a desexed male brown tabby cat at the . The shelter thinks I am about 8 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 2/14/2019, with the surrender reason stated as animal behaviour - aggressive towards people.

Reserved

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Brooklyn is at risk, new hope only, for behavioral reasons. Brooklyn has displayed conflicting behaviors at the care center and in previous home environment. Brooklyn has been tense and anxious while at the care center, and does not allow for extensive handling. Brooklyn would be best suited for placement with a new hope partner that can provide a slow approach to modify and manage these behaviors. Medically, Brooklyn has dental disease which may require follow up vet care.

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Brooklyn is very tense in the shelter. While he allowed some petting without hissing, growling or swatting, he was strongly and tensely focused on the assessor with very dilated pupils including for a considerable amount of time after the assessment was over. This and his yowling, pacing and ability to be startled suggest an unpredictability, and the potential for his behaviors to escalate, perhaps with little or no warning. Brooklyn is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home.
