He was there for a bit and fine until he looked up and then clamped his teeth onto her cheek and his claw came up and got her above her lip. She was trying to pull his nail out of her face while he was yelling because she was holding his paw. Then he ran once he was free. Litter box training: Yes. Energy level/descriptors: Other notes: He is left home alone during the day for an average of 4 days a week. He’s free in the house and there’s never been an issue. He takes a long time to warm up and trust. There is a scratch history though it did not break skin. Mr. Grey's home attendant became fearful of the cat after due to hissing and swatting at them. Litter box training: Yes. Mr. Grey had access to one uncovered litter box with unscented litter located in the living room. Energy level/descriptors: Medium energy level. Other notes: Mr. Grey was described by previous owners to prefer contact on his own terms. He is quiet and spends most of his time in the living room. He is not interested in play time but enjoys scratching on carpet/fabric. Upon intake the cat hissed and swatted at staff. Staff was unable to collar and scan for M/C.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/11/26 FB79 Inside of the den, Mr gray is asleep and lifts his head when i speak after lifting the den cover; he has almond eyes and his ears forward but had no reaction as i spoke and slow blinked at him. He didn't care for any treats however, he started to flinched and pull away from the tool when i attempted petting. He did not escalate but continued to avoid the tool now with wide eyes. 1/12/26 FB61 Lying in cat den upon approach, body and face initially hidden from view. He remains hidden when I offer treats and a catnip toy so I speak to him softly and walk away to work with the other cats in the room. When I checked back on him a few minutes later he's actually crouched at the front of his kennel finishing the remainder of his treats. I speak to him softly and when he notices me he flattens his ears, turns his head and hisses. I slow-blink, leave him some more treats and end the session. I do not push petting today to avoid creating a negative association with my Prescence. Food motivated! 1/14/26 FB58 In his den and hidden from view, cannot be coaxed out with treats or when spoken to softly. When the side portal is closed and the den cover is removed, he sits with a slightly tense face and body and sniffs at the treats offered through the holes in the side of the den. He remains wary and tenses when the door is lifted slightly and the scratcher tool is offered. He tolerates a few touches before his tail begins to flick and he swipes/bites at the tool. As the den cover is replaced, he swats at the den door 1/17/26 FB79 Inside of the cubby, Mr Grey has a low tail with neutral eyes and forward ears as he walked back into the main part of the kennel. He had no reaction when i opened the door and spoke and leaned forward to sniff the treats that i placed down in front of him; he started to enjoy but flinched back when i attempted i pet the top of his head. Mr. Grey backed away a few more times but allowed brief petting on his head before backing away once again. 1/21/26 FB58 In den but pokes head out and comes to the cubby where the squeeze up tray down. He is wary but sniffs at it. I am able to get some touches along his head and neck with my hand and the tool but he remains very sensitive. 8/2/26 FB25 Mr. Grey is inside of his den when I approach. He pops his head out with wide eyes, then begins low growling. I place some treats in the kennel and talk softly to him, not pushing it further. He needs some time. 8/5/26 FB58 Out and sitting on top of den, offer tuna but wont come down. Able to make contact with tool before he darks back into den. 8/10/26 FB47 Mr Grey is at the kennel door as I open it. Although he initially seems excited to interact when I greet him he begins to tense. His ears turn to the side and his pupils dilate. He takes a step back. He jumps on the ledge of his kennel and stares down at me harshly as I talk to him. I leave him a tray of treats which he eats once I close the kennel. GAN

Potential challenges comments:: There is a scratch history though it did not break skin. Mr. Grey's home attendant became fearful of the cat after due to hissing and swatting at them. There is a bite history in the foster home, please see "Known History". Though we cannot determine a trigger with limited details, it is possible Grey may have become startled or upset causing him to redirect onto the foster because of her very close proximity to him (he was described as very snuggly and loves to sleep on them). Mr. Grey showed some signs of potential overstimulation during his behavior evaluation, his tail swishing with increased force as he solicits petting with a tool. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Mr. Grey becomes overstimulated.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: *Due to character limit, previous behavior assessments are listed in GAN** 7/30/26 Mr. Grey is in his den with wide eyes. He sniffs scratcher tool when offered to him and begins to low grumble. When the tool is extended closer into the den he raises his paw and swats it with moderate intensity. The interaction is ended as to not further increase his stress. 8/30/26 Mr. Grey is sitting on top of his den upon approach. He is upright with a bright and alert expression, his tail extended behind him, watching the assessor enter and tilting his head curiously. He sniffs treats, but does not take them. When a scratcher tool is slowly extended toward him, he initially moves away and hops on to the top ledge, his tail beginning to swish slightly. He tolerates the tool running along his head, and after a moment, he leans into it. He walks back and forth as the tool is pet on the sides of his face and along his back, his body loose, and he continues to bunt into it and solicit attention. When the assessor offers their hand, he quickly retreats to the ledge, staring hard at it and tapping his tail slightly more forcefully. They continue the assessment with the tool out of caution and he continues to allow touch from the tool. Mr. Grey tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to prior owner history (see separate notes) and a bite/scratch history, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced cat parent home.
