Dapper
Hello, my name is Dapper. My animal id is #265774. I am a female black cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 9/18/2026.
Dapper is on the at-risk list for medical concerns. Dapper has a small, non-ulcerated L4 mammary mass involving the nipple and irregular, poorly defined abnormal mammary tissue extending toward L5, highly concerning for mammary neoplasia. She also has generalized muscle atrophy with prominent spinal vertebrae and decreased abdominal muscle mass/tone. Bloodwork is clinically unremarkable/WNL. Dapper is currently ambulatory, eating readily, and clinically stable; however, given concern for mammary neoplasia and guarded prognosis. We recommend chest radiographs for staging and radical mastectomy with biopsy/histopathology. Behaviorally, Dapper allows all handling and enoys pets.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 10 years Microchip noted on Intake? Negative History: Stray Subjective: BAR-H, MM pink and moist Observed Behavior - Medical Blue; Able to examine and complete intake tasks. Vocalizing during restraint for blood collection but tolerated handling sufficiently to complete blood collection. Is there evidence of suspected cruelty? No Objective: P = 160 hr R = 32 rr BCS 4/9 Wt = 7.5 lbs EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal or ocular discharge noted; iris atrophy OU Oral Exam: Mild dental calculus of posterior maxillary dentition PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT <2, lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Decreased abdominal muscle mass/tone with a dorsally retracted abdominal contour; non-painful, no obvious intra-abdominal masses palpated U/G: FI. Small, non-ulcerated mammary mass associated with L4 mammary gland/nipple. Nipple mildly swollen with blue-tinged discoloration visible through skin; no discharge. Flat, irregular, bumpy, poorly defined abnormal mammary tissue extends caudally toward L5 along mammary chain. MSI: Ambulatory x4. Generalized muscle atrophy, 2/3, with prominent spinal vertebrae. CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Diagnostics: -CBC: WNL; Chemistry: WNL except mildly elevated Na 166; SDMA: 6, WNL; TT4: 2.2, WNL Assessment: -L4 mammary mass with irregular, ill-defined abnormal mammary tissue extending toward L5; highly concerning for mammary neoplasia -Generalized muscle atrophy, 2/3, with prominent spinal vertebrae and decreased abdominal muscle mass/tone -Senior patient Prognosis: Guarded Plan: -Standard intake tasks for cats performed -Feline Daily Monitoring Log placed -Place on ARL due to mammary mass concerning for neoplasia -After placement, minimally recommend chest radiographs and radical mastectomy with biopsy/histopathology -Recheck 3 days SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age

If placement not found quicky, recommend EHR

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Dapper was standing in front of her kennel as the assessor approached, body and face relaxed with her ears forward and her tail raised. Dapper made eye contact and began rubbing against the kennel door when spoken to and she remained calm in front of her kennel as the cage door opened. Dapper allowed petting along her head and body while leaning in, arching into the assessor's hand and keeping her tail high in the air. Dapper remained calm when lifted and placed back down. Dapper's pupils were dilated for the duration of her assessment. Dapper interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
