Kobi
Hello, my name is Kobi. My animal id is #185023. I am a desexed male white cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 10 months 4 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 9/11/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - allergies.
Kobi is on the at risk for medical reasons. Kobi was diagnosed with asthma prior to surrender and is on an inhaler. This is typically a chronic disease in cats. Kobi will need continued care throughout his life. Clinically, Kobi is stable at this time and allows handling.

I am an adorable big boy with good manners and an affectionate, loving personality. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I have met dogs before and was noted to be curious of them.

VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Social,Sweet,Affectionate,People oriented,Easy going
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Rough play
Potential challenges comments:: Kobi was noted to occasionally play roughly in his previous home to the point of potentially breaking skin. While it was never reported to be a concern, his adopters should ensure to encourage play only with toys to avoid scratch incidents.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 1
RECOMMENDATIONS:: No other cats OR multi-cat home with adopters experienced with introducing new cats
Recommendations comments:: Kobi was described as tolerant/prefers contact on own terms/hisses with other cats. While we do not know the details of any interactions he may have had, any adopters with other cats in the household should be prepared for a slow and proper introduction. He was noted to be curious and tolerant with three dogs.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Kobi is sitting at the front of the kennel. He has a relaxed body with his tail spread loosely behind him and looks at the assessor with soft eyes. He solicits petting right away, walking back and forth and purring as he is stroked on his head and along his back. He raises his tail high and nuzzles his face into the assessor, closing his eyes as he is scratched under his chin. He is picked up with no issue, tensing briefly in the hold but tolerating all handling while remaining calm. Once set back down, he continues purring and seeking out attention. He presents as a social and gentle boy. Kobi interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
