Iggy
Hello, my name is Iggy. My animal id is #220072. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 15 years 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 2/11/2025, with the surrender reason stated as animal health - cannot afford vet bill.

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Iggy is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Iggy is a sweet senior cat who has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He has been doing well on his oral treatment so far, but it is not a condition we can manage long term in shelter. A volunteer writes:Easy Iggy, brought by his loving longstanding family was found to be hyperthyroid, a condition(common in elderly cats) easily treated with medication given daily. Iggy is a lovely senior(even very friendly with the veterinary team) who craves for company and love, meowing for attention, leaning and purring for caresses. He is a good guy who came with wonderful comments from his former owners! Iggy came with a one month history of vomiting(often seen with an over reactive thyroid) and beside a little reprieve, this symptom has persisted within our walls. He likely needs, at his age and with his condition, a more peaceful environment than a shelter as well as close veterinary follow up. In other words, sweet and handsome Iggy needs you to overcome this bump in his life and have some more time to give and receive love. Iggy is at the Manhattan Care Center. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I have lived with dogs in my previous home. I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.
