ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 6/20/23 At the front of her cage and rubbing along the cage door with a soft face and body while purring with her ears forward and tail raised. Appears to be warming up but once the cage door is opened, she tenses slightly and becomes more shifty, once the barrier is gone. I work to decrease her wariness buy feeding her treats from my hand which she eats easily to build a positive association. She allows some pets. 6/24/23 At the front of her cage vocalizing and reaching out as she solicits attention. When I open the cage door, she greets me and and accepts all pets along her head and body with a neutral face and body and tail raised. 6/26/23 Lying down under kuranda bed, immediately comes forward upon approach. Eagerly accepts chicken filet offered and and rubs face on door. Allows petting on the head and cheeks, but initially leans and steps back. Warms up to attention and raises hips and tail in the air. When reaching around her body to attempt pick up, she retreats under the kuranda bed, so I have to first distract her with more chicken. During pick up, she tenses up and pushes against my body, so I release her and she jumps off my torso. She comes forward for more chicken and petting after being let down. 6/27/23 Laying on her kuranda bed with a neutral face and body. When I begin to speak to her, she comes down to the front of the cage to greet me with ears forward and tail raised. She accepts and leans into all pets as she vocalizes and eats treats offered. She allows me to lift her up and place her back down briefly.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Annabelle was hunched in front of her kennel as the assessor approached, body and face relaxed with her ears forward and her tail curled lightly around her feet. Annabelle made eye contact when spoken to and she looked around the room with her eyes widening slightly as the kennel door opened. Annabelle allowed petting along her head and body while leaning in and and softening her face and eyes. Annabelle could not be coaxed off of her vertical space at this time, however Annabelle remained calm when lifted and placed back down from this position. Annabelle interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
