Lawrence
Hello, my name is Lawrence. My animal id is #87143. I am a desexed male black cat at the . The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 1/27/2020, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too many animals already.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.
Lawrence was placed at risk due to behavioral concerns; he is not thriving here in the care center and is displaying distant-fearful behavior. Lawrence was diagnosed with Alopecia and we are recommending placement with an experienced cat adopter.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 02/01/20 Chirping and pacing kennel when approached. Will stand still when opening kennel door. He looks around the room and tries to walk out the kennel, then freezes when touched. He will eventually arch his back, lift his tail high and lean in for petting. Sweet but unsure. Has potential. 02/03/20 At front of kennel as I approach, body neutral and ears forward. He makes eye contact when spoken to and begins to vocalize. Remains calm as I crouch down, then backs away a bit as the kennel door opens. He looks around the room with wide eyes so I offer him a treat, then click and reward each time he tolerates petting along the length of his head and body. He begins to raise his rear but remains focused on the room and slightly wary. Curious of surroundings, has good kennel presence. Has potential to continue to warm up even more. 02/05/20 Lying in front of kennel, ears forward and feet stretched out in front of him. He makes eye contact when spoken to, then begins to vocalize. Very chatty! He allows petting along his head and body after the kennel door opens while leaning in and raising his tail. He's focused on his environment and remains low in his kennel but appreciates petting with a slow and gentle approach. Eats all treats offered. Sweet tuxie, showing improvement daily.

He was at the front being chatty, and once the door was opened he allowed all petting and leaned in for cheek petting, with a high tail that undulated gently. His back was slightly arched and he was active. He was relaxed when picked up and set back down. Lawrence interacts with the observer, appreciates and solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
