Summary:: Leash Walking Strength and pulling: None Reactivity to humans: None Reactivity to dogs: None Leash walking comments: Started balking and pulling back on the leash, head whipping when the handler attempted to return to the care center When brought into the assessment room Oakley Kazooie was observed to be tense with a tucked tail. Oakley would approach the handler with a tense, stiff body and tucked tail and would begin sniffing them intently. When the handler presents the collar Oakly hard stares at them and freezes. Due to the high levels of fear, stress, and anxiety displayed. Oakley is not a candidate to receive a handling assessment at this time.
Summary:: Due to Oakley's bite history, Oakley is not a candidate for Playgroup.
Summary (6):: 9/27/26 - For kennel side visit Oakley Kazooie was towards the back of the kennel when handler approaches the door, handler toss treats through kennel door and he does get up to the front of the kennel slowly with timid body but would move head to the side, tail tucked and ears pinned back showing whites of the eyes and then retreating back not taking the treats by the floor of the door. Handler steps away to grab higher value treats, upon returning handler tosses cheese in which Oakley Kazooie was more responsive to the cheese and taking them, he came to the front of the kennel to take spray cheese the handler placed on the bars and was responsive to handler giving treats and praise giving a small tail wag but after some time would retreat back into the kennel with timid body. Handler ends interaction.
Summary (7):: 9/24/26: (PM) (late) it was reported that when Oakley was being walked for his pm walk he began baulking and refusing to walk towards the care center. A second handler was called for and the behavior persissted. Oakley kazopie was whale eyeing and began jumping and flopping at any leash pressure. He would bite the leash a couple of times in redirection. Oakley Kazooie was double leashed and belly banded, he had to be put onto a cart to return him to the care center and his kennel as he would intensely alligator roll every few steps 9/24/26: Oakley Kazooie is lying on his kuranda bed at the back of his kennel when the handler approaches. He does not show interest in offered treats. Handler is able to leash him with verbal coaxing. Oakley Kazooie exits the kennel and walks slowly through the hallway without reacting to neighboring dogs or passing staff members. Once outside, he pulls strongly toward few spots in the driveway and stops to relieve himself multiple times. During the walk, he remains slightly ahead of the handler and walks with with mild leash tension. He shows no reaction to people, dogs, or other stimuli on the street. He remains aloof and focused on moving forward. He is not interested in handler's attempts to engage or offered treats. When on the way back, handler turns toward the shelter; Oakley backs up and repeatedly whips his head refusing to continue walking in the new direction. His body is tense. He sits and maintains eye contact with the handler, showing whale eye. Handler attempts to encourage him to walk using treats, verbal coaxing, and a squeaker toy, but Oakley Kazooie does not move. Handler starts running with him and using light leash pressure which help encourage Oakley and he begins walking. After several seconds, he stops again and repeats the same behavior (head whipping, refusing to walk) Handler continues using movement and leash pressure to encourage him forward. After some time handler is able to return him to the shelter. Once walk is done, Oakley Kazooie is taken to the Canine Behavior office for the assessment (see notes). During return handler is able to pre-clip the leash and bring Oakley Kazooie back into his kennel with no issues.
