Rocket growled at counselor when approached. Counselor requested that the owner collar him while counselor continued the intake.

Basic Information:: Rocket is a 6 year old small mixed breed male. Rocket was surrendered due to the fact his owner has health problems and can no longer care for him. Rocket previously sprained his back left leg and sometimes does not put weight on it.
How is this dog around strangers?: Rocket is fearful of strangers and will bark and growl when approached.
How is this dog around children?: Rocket will bark at children and stay away from them. Rocket's owner stated that Rocket has been around her two year old granddaughter and will bark at her due to being jealous.
How is this dog around other dogs?: Rocket will bark at other dogs but will not lunge at them.
How is this dog around cats?: Rocket has not been around cats.
Resource guarding:: Rocket is not bothered when someone touches his food while he is eating. Rocket growls if his toy is removed but will continue to play. It is unknown whether he would be bothered when taking a treat away.
Bite history:: Rocket has no bite history.

Other Notes:: Rocket is not bothered when pulled off the furniture. Rocket is afraid when held or restrained. Rocket is not bothered when he is disturbed when sleeping. The owner does struggle when Rocket needs a bath or needs to be brushed. The owner has not trimmed his nails. Rocket barks and growls if strangers approach the house or a family member. Rocket often poops and pees indoors, barks a lot and is sometimes hard to control. During fireworks Rocket panics, is nervous and hides.

Medical Notes: a few years ago Rocket sprained his back left leg and at times does not put weight on it. Rocket is up to date with vaccines.
For a New Family to Know: Rocket loves to play with squeaky toys and balls. Rocket likes to play fetch and knows how to sit. Rocket has been mostly kept indoors. Rocket has a lot of energy but will not pull while on his leash. Rocket is partially crate trained. Rocket is partially house trained, he will poop on the wee-wee pad. When rocket is left alone he will bark/whine and will do potty indoors. Rocket has not been left alone in the yard. Rocket sleeps anywhere that he finds comfortable. Rocket is anxious around strangers but very friendly with owner.
