Animal Profile

Kibou

Hello, my name is Kibou. My animal id is #258669. I am a female black dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 7/1/2026.

Kibou needs at risk placement for medical reasons. She is a young, sweet dog with a severe anemia. She is eating and receiving treatment for possible intestinal parasite and tick-borne disease exposure. Kibou also had a syncopal episode with no clear cause. She needs placement in a veterinary clinic for further testing to determine the reason for her condition.

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy!

Summary (7):: 7/5/26 (Assessment): Kibou was lying down at front of her crate as handler approached. She was easily leashed and pulled from crate. She was taken for a brief street walk before her assessment (Please see assessment notes for details). While on walk she walked next to handler with a slack lead. She accepted treats and pets on her head, back, sides and chest. When she saw a dog on the street she stared at the dog maintaining a neutral body. Handler applied very little leash pressure and Kibou kept walking but kept turning her head to look back at dog. After her assessment she was returned to her crate with no issue.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Kibou so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in addition to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.
