Aurora
Hello, my name is Aurora. My animal id is #51739. I am a desexed female gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 9 months old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 4/30/2025, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving - no pets allowed.
Aurora has been placed on the At Risk list for medical reasons. She has not eaten at all here at the shelter and, because she is very overweight, her poor appetite alone can make her very sick with fatty liver disease. She needs care and attention that we cannot provide.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...

She remained still during the assessment, allowing petting with both a scratcher tool and by hand. Although she tensed when picked up, she tolerated handling and continued to accept attention once settled. Aurora tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
