Rocky Balboa is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Rocky Balboa, whom we believe would be suitable to most homes.

A volunteer writes: Rocky-Y, Rocky-Y, Rock-Y! Although in this case you'll want to use your quiet voice, because our Rocky Balboa is a total schmushy, lover, cuddle bug. We even found some stairs to simulate Rock-Y, but all our Rocky wanted to do was cuddle, and we were more than happy to oblige. Awesome on leash, likely housetrained, a gentle cuddler and kisser who closes his eyes when rolling in for cuddles, there is simply nothing not to love about our Rocky B. He's social and easy and proved it all in his behavior assessment which he aced in every category. No surprise there! In playgroup with females (he hasn't been with males as of this writing), he enjoys exuberant play. We could have spent the morning cuddling with this sweet boy, but had to move on. You, lucky adopter, should run, not walk to MACC to meet our cuddle buddy today. He's waiting to meet you.

Upon intake rocky was jumping and very playful. his tag was wagging and had a loose body. he handled good when getting a collar put on. He took treats gently. he allowed counselor to take his picture.

Summary:: Rocky Balboa approached the assessor quickly in the assessment room and jumped up in an attention seeking manner. He jumped up several times throughout the assessment, was social throughout, allowed all handling, and displayed no concerning behaviors.

However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: Rocky Balboa consistently displays highly social behavior with handlers. He maintains a loose wiggly body throughout interactions and solicits attention from handlers.

Force-free, reward based training only is recommended.
