Animal Profile

Anakin

Hello, my name is Anakin. My animal id is #251661. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 4/9/2026.

Anakin is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Anakin is a friendly cat who was surrendered due his owner passing away. We have assessed that Anakin has multiple health concerns. Anakin has a mass in his abdomen that is likely a malignant cancer, as well as some right eye abnormalities that do not seem to bother him currently. Given his ongoing medical concerns, it is likely that Anakin will be receiving palliative care with placement as his condition is likely not curable, although follow up with a veterinarian is recommended to ensure he is comfortable. Anakin is very sweet and has allowed all handling and seeks attention during their exams.

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! My purr motor is always running! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Anakin is lying in his litter box, face and eyes are neutral, ears are forward. As the kennel door is opened, he remains in the litter box as the assessor slowly offers their hand. Anakin turns his head and gently sniffs. He enjoys all petting head to tail, leaning and purring. He really enjoyed cheek and chin scratches. Using squeeze up to lure him to the front, he had no interest. After a few moments of him watching outside the kennel, he stood up and slowly came to the front. He enjoyed more petting as he was leaning, purring, arching his back and his tail is high. He allowed for pick up for a brief moment before being placed back in his kennel with no issues. He turned around and enjoyed a few more pets before the interaction ended. Anakin interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience, demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
