Luna
Hello, my name is Luna. My animal id is #85819. I am a desexed female white cat at the . The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 4 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 1/23/2020, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- cannot afford to care for.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.
Luna is at risk for medical reasons. Luna was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection which is contagious to other animals and will require further veterinary care. Behaviorally, Luna is quickly overstimulated and should go to an experienced cat adopter.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...
A volunteer writes: "There is nothing like a Dame!"Luna put her best foot forward to impress me. An offer of treats; totally ignored. Instead, gentle body rubs accompanied by face nuzzles inviting me to pet her. I was so enchanted giving her soft cheek rubs and petting her, that I almost didn't notice that she had been purring from the moment we met. All she needed was a warm , quiet " hello" and a sniff of my hand. When she first arrived at the shelter, she was a bit uppity and had a less than stellar experience with children. Thus, we prefer, not only a loving home but one with a good familiarity of felines. If you're warm & friendly with Luna in a non obtrusive manner, you may find the love of your life waiting, up here at the MACC.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/25/20 Earlier in the day she was hissy, but at the start of the session she was at the front, rubbing against the kennel door, with normal easy and a fairly relaxed posture. Upon opening the door she pushed her head against my hands, curious and engaging, possibly wanting to come out of the kennel, at the least quite curious. She allowed all petting, leaned in for cheek rubs even laying her neck down at one point for more rubbing, raised her rear and tail with lower back petting. Then after a time her tail began to gently "swish" and during one stroke along her side she whipped her head toward my hand. Then after closing the door she soft swatted my hand, no claws, through the kennel door almost a tap. She sniffed the offered treats at the end but didn't eat them. 1/28/20 Lying in den. Quickly engages when called. Head-butts the kennel door when spoken softly. Head-butts the scratcher continuously and enjoys petting along her body. She was allowed to come out of the kennel to see her reaction. She allowed to be picked up, held and placed back without escalating this time. She continued to seek attention with tail flicking but no hissing or growling today. Very sweet. Wants to get out of kennel. Could we re-eval tomorrow if good behavior continues? Level 3 maybe?
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Lively
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Bold,Social,Sweet,Affectionate,Playful,People oriented
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Inappropriate elimination,Overstimulation,New home adjustment period
Potential challenges comments:: - Please see flyers.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 3
Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: Adult only home
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Luna was resting in her den on approach. She came out of it when spoken softly and started to head-butt the kennel door. Luna's tail began to flick even before petting but she seemed to enjoy them without escalating. Luna came out of the kennel to explore and allowed to be picked up, held and placed back. Luna continued to head-butt the kennel door and meowed at the assessor for attention. Luna is a social and affectionate cat that will need time to adjust to her new environment so please refer to the new home adjustment period flyer to help her decompress successfully. We noticed that Luna seems to be an active cat that gets over-stimulated very quickly so we recommend having play sessions and providing interactive toys to appropriate direct her energy. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center and previous home, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
