Giselle
Hello, my name is Giselle. My animal id is #211574. I am a desexed female white cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 1 months 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 10/5/2024, with the surrender reason stated as animal health - will need ongoing vet care.
Giselle is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. Giselle is a senior diabetic cat. We are unable to manage diabetes in the shelter effectively. Giselle should be placed in a home that is prepared to medically manage her diabetes long-term, as this is most often a life-long condition.

I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I may enjoy casually batting at a toy mouse every now and then, but my favorite activity is snuggling on my favorite person's lap! I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: 10/8/24 Giselle is a social, sweet, and affectionate senior lady. She was at the back of the kennel sitting up with a soft body and eyes. When spoken to and opening the door, she walks forward to greet the assessor at the front. She ignores treats offered and then head bunts for petting. Giselle leans in hard for cheek rubs and raises her hips and tail in the air when stroking her body. During pick up, she remains calm and trills, but then tenses up a little bit to be placed back down. After placing her back down, she continues to appreciate more petting and cheek rubs at the front. 11/8/24 Upon re-eval, Giselle continues to display similar behaviors as previously detailed. Giselle interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems other than the the litter box accidents reported, which may be a result of her diabetes (see more details in Known History section above). This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience who demonstrates a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
