Cash was surrendered by his previous owner due to behavior concerns. His previous family describes him as a fearful dog who would spend most of his time around his people, in the living room, and in his crate. Cash is reported to have a multiple bite history; all three bites were bite and releases and did break skin. He is reported to not have allowed any form of Grooming and did bite as a result, as a resource guarder that would guard food, toys, treats, and his crate. One of Cash's bite incidents was due to a friend of the owner trying to remove him from his crate. His previous owner noted that getting in and being in a car makes Cash nervous, but he would love to greet his family when they came home and loved playing with hard toys that he could throw in the air and Chase. Due to the multiple Behavior concerns noted in his previous home, we recommend for Chase to be placed in an adult-only home where he can be the only dog through a New Hope Rescue partner that can address Cash's Behavior concerns with the use of a certified professional trainer or behaviorist that utilizes positive reinforcement methods only.

Summary (7):: 7/16: A handler approaches to take a new picture of Cash now that he has been shaved. He comes to the front of the kennel, sniffing towards the handler. The handler greets him with a soft voice and offers treats - first piece is lamb liver. Cash sniffs for a prolonged period but does not take it. The hadnler offers a soft treat, and he takes it with a soft mouth. Once he's done chewing, he steps back and does a brief shake off, but it is not a full-body shake, mostly head to front shoulders. Cash scoots closer to the bars and turns to press his neck against the bar for petting. The hadnler briefly engages before stepping back to take his picture. The handler drops a few more pieces of the soft treats into his kennel and walks away. 7/15/26: Cash is at the back of his kennel growling when approached, and when the handler goes to coax him he begins to bare teeth. The handler walks away and covers his kennel to allow him to settle.

Place with a New Hope partner: Due to all the noted concerns displayed in the previous home, the Behavior Department recommends Cash be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home where he can be the only dog. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Cash to acclimate comfortably to his new home environment; force-free, reward-based training only is advised when introducing Cash to new and unfamiliar situations.
