Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only.
Pre-Screener FormWolly is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Despite our best efforts at making him comfortable Wolly has been observed to be highly fearful while in care. Noted to have a tense body when handlers attempt to interact with him and while on walks. He is also observed to quickly escalate. During one instance when a handler attempted to use a sling, Wolly snarled and lunged at them. His previous owner described him as social and affectionate. Occasionally he is receptive to treats. Medically, Wolly is underweight and currently receiving treatment for a wound on paw noted during his intake and CIRDC.

Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult only home. What my friends at ACC say about me: I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me. I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them. I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together!

Fearful Defensive: Wolly has been observed to be tense when interacting with handlers and while on walks. He has also been observed to quickly escalate to snarling and lunging towards handlers. It is important to move slowly with Wolly, to build positive associations (treats/toys/praise), and to allow them to initiate interactions with new people. They should never be forced to greet or to interact if they are not comfortable and soliciting attention. Please see handout on Fearful and Defensive Aggression.
