Details on my behavior are...

Behavior Condition: 4. Orange

Date of intake:: 4/13/2026

Spay/Neuter status:: No

Means of surrender (length of time in previous home):: Stray, no known history

Date of assessment:: 4/17/2026

Summary:: In the Care Centers, Milky White is fearful, tensing up when touched and head whipping. She snaps and bares her teeth at staff and their slip leads but will allow them to remove her from kennel. Due to these behaviors, Milky White will not receive a handling assessment.

Summary (7):: 4/20/26: Milky White is laying at the back of the kennel when the handler approaches. She is easily leashed and guided out of the kennel. Once out of kennel Milky pulls towards the neighboring dogs and begins vocalizing. She stops in front of the first kennel and continues to vocalize. The handler has to muscle her away. She is taken to the yard where she has a neutral body and relieves herself readily. She allows the handler to clip the leash and she is returned to kennel with no further issue.  4/19/26: Milky is brought into the behavior office to wait for her kennel to be cleaned. Milky approaches the handler with a soft body and nudges their arm with her muzzle. The handler pets Milky on the head and offers a treat. Milky takes the treat with a soft mouth. Milky then disengages from the handler. 4/17/26: Milky White is lying down in kennel and then stands up to approach the front with a entail body. As the handler attempts to leash, any time it touches her head, Milky flinches; she dodges the leash a few times. She then bares teeth and snaps at the leash once. The handler finally leashes her, and Milky walks out the kennel on her own. The handler brings Milky to the yard. There, she sniffs around and relieves herself; she doesn't react to dogs or handlers walking past. Milky engages with the handler, by placing her front paws on their lap. She allows pets on the side of her body. The handler gives her a treat, but she shows no interest. Right before bringing her inside, Milky stays a the top of the stairs; she doesn't move with gentle leash pressure. The handler stands next to her, and when they call Milky's name, Milky walks down the stairs. The handler clips their leash and walk Milky White to her kennel, however she doesn't enter on her own. The handler tosses treats inside but she doesn't show interest. The handler then muscles Milky White into kennel and removes their leash with ease.

Date of intake:: 4/13/2026

Summary:: Low growl, vocalized, hesitant to walk

Date of initial:: 4/14/2026

Summary:: Low growling, baring teeth

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Milky White so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only

Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner

Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to the behaviors displayed in the Care Centers, Milky White should go to a home with no children. Place with a New Hope partner: Milky White should go to a New Hope Partner that can manage her behaviors.

Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression

Potential challenges comments:: Handling/touch sensitivity/Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Milky White was observed to bare her teeth, snap and flinched when staff attempt to remove her form the kennel. Positive reinforcement should be used to help Milky White associate new people and certain handling with things she likes such as treats and toys. Please see the handouts on Handling/touch sensitivity & Fearful/potential for defensive aggression.
