Hulk
Hello, my name is Hulk. My animal id is #225337. I am a desexed male orange tabby cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 4/23/2025.
Hulk is at risk due to a severe URI with oral ulceration and has stopped eating. He lost a significant amount of weight. He will need to be hospitalized with placement and may need an e-tube placed if his appetite does not improve. Behaviorally, Hulk has allowed medical handling. Hulk tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 4/30/25 FB32 Lying down at front of kennel with neutral body and eyes. Accepts treats and licks catnip. Welcomes petting on the head and leans in for cheek rubs. Body twitches when stroking his back. Tenses up when applying gentle upward pressure on his side and chest. Continues to appreciate more petting and attention. 5/05/25 FB61 Last week when attempting to move Hulk to a new kennel a feline behavior specialist attempted to pick Hulk up. When pressure was applied to Hulk's sides along with an attempt to lift him Hulk whipped his head back and attempted to bite the assessor. He was then transfered to his new kennel by being denned instead of lifted with no safety tools.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Hulk is inside of his den with slightly wide eyes, forward ears and his paws straight out in front of him; immediately slow blinks when spoken to and leans into sniff the assessors hand when it is brought in closer. Hulk accepts pets on his head and leans into chin and cheek rubs however, when the assessor reaches in to pet down his back he tenses up , starts to dodge the assessor‘s hand and back up further into the den. The assessor offered multiple treats in attempts to coax him out but he remained still, wide eyed while he lip licking and fixated on the room behind the assessor. Pick up was not attempted at this time. Hulk tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to an adult only home with experienced cat parents.
