BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: ADULT ONLY HOME

Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable

Recommendations:: No children (under 13)

Recommendations comments:: Due to how uncomfortable Minnie is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time.

Potential challenges: : Fearful,Anxiety

Potential challenges comments:: Fearful:Minnie is timid with new people. She manages her stress well and has not escalated or shown any aggression, but she does need time to warm up to new people. She does best with a slow approach, and should be permitted to greet new people at his own pace and to initiate interaction (rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person) so she has time to adjust and become comfortable before she is handled. She should be spoken to softly and gently. Anxiety: Minnie has shown some signs of potential anxiety in the care center, vocalizing (whining, panting) continually through the SAFER and through play sessions outside. This behavior was reported at intake, and we have some known history on Minnie, A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised.
