Hello, my name is Pichirilo. My animal id is #269217. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 10/30/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal health - cannot afford vet bill.
Pichirilo is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Pichirilo is shy, sweet boy who has severe inflammation of his mouth. It is a condition called gingivostomatitis. Pichi will likely need a dental procedure to remove all of his teeth, a full mouth extraction. He has started eating again with a course of steroids to help with the inflammation, but this is not a permanent fix and is not ideal in the shelter. Pichirilo would do best outside of the shelter environment with individualized care and a quiet place to recover. Behaviorally, he is tense but allows all handling.

Food plates untouched eent: eyes clear, no ocular or nasal dc apparent oral: upper canines super erupted with pus dried on mouth h/l: eupneic, no coughing or sneezing appreciated msi: ambulatory x4 neuro: mentation alert and appropriate A: severe stomatitis P: starting anti inflammatory steroids 0.25ml dexamethasone-SP 4mg/ml IM SID x5d then start taper if helping

They spend their time indoors and they spend their time where the people are, in the kitchen, living room and by the window. They play gently, like to chase toys. Plays with things that crinkle, chase after insects. They enjoy playing with ropes, carpet/fabric. Wood surfaces, carton, vertical and horizontal surfaces. They love soft toys and ropes. They love Friskies wet food.
