He is not bothered when held/restrained, when woken from sleep, when pushed off furniture, when his paws are touched, or when his collar is grabbed. He is fearful and barks/growls when startled.

When attempting to collar he will become tense and back away. He is given treats to distract which he ignores and backs away. Sir Beaver becomes uncomfortable and begins displacement, bowing/stretching.

Summary:: According to Sir Beaver's previous owner(s), Sir Beaver has interacted with different dogs and is often described as He gets very excited around other dogs. he loves playing 05/05/25 Sir Beaver is introduced at the gate to a novel female dog while off leash at the care center. Sir Beaver doesn't greet the novel female dog at the gate as she rushes the gate displaying a tense frame. Sir Beaver displays a stiff, square frame at the gate as the novel female dog hard barks and snarls at him. Sir Beaver will display a mid-level slow swaying tail while panting. Sir Beaver will stay planted as the novel female dog is moved away from the gate. Sir Beaver is returned to kennel, concluding the interaction. 04/24/25: When off leash at the Care Center Sir Beaver is introduced to a novel male dog. At the gate Sir Beaver approaches with a stiff frame as both dogs scent one another through the gate. After scenting with a neutral frame the novel male will walk away from the gate, displacement scenting. Sir Beaver will remain at the gate with a high curved flagging tail. Sir Beaver ears are forward as he hyper salivates, fixating on the novel male. The novel male does not return to the gate. This will conclude the interaction.

Summary (5):: 05/23/25: Sir Beaver is standing at the front of kennel with a neutral frame as handler approaches. He is leashed with ease and walks to the Live Room where he is clipped to a drag lead and free to explore the space. Sir Beaver spends his time engaging with a snuffle mat and soft toy that are offered to him. He will approach handler as they kneel down and accepts petting with a neutral frame. Sir Beaver will stick his head into handler's pouch multiple times to eat the treats inside. After his session, he is leashed with ease and returns to kennel safely. 05/22/25 (trainer Note) Sir Beaver is on his Karunda bed as the trainer approaches. He dodges the leash twice, but the trainer is able to drop the leash over his head and he pulls mildly to the Live Room. He is clipped to a drag leash and immediately shakes, he then begins to pace around the room. Sir Beaver begins to seek exit, pawing at the door and shows no interest in the enrichment items. The trainer attempted to redirect him with treats, but sir Beaver is not interested in treats and begins to pace around the room again. The trainer steps towards him and he flinches. The trainer attempts to engage in some polite exchange with two rope toys and his body language changes immediately. Sir Beaver is loose and wiggly and will chase the toy. Sir Beaver will sit on approach and drop the toy at the trainer's feet. After several repetitions of this, the trainer attempts to get him to engage with the enrichment items and he begins to readily engage with a licki mat. Sir Beaver's body is loose, with a low wide tail wag. Someone begins to clean the window of the the Live Room door and Sir Beaver looks up briefly and continues to engage with the licki mat. Sir Beaver is easily leashed and is able to sit and gently take treats before being returned to his kennel. Snaps at staff members hand when they reach for his kennel card through the kennel. Will hard bark and ping pong while they are near.

Summary (6):: 5/17/25: Sir Beaver is oberseved to be repeatedly lunging at a staff member as there back was turned to him, and would not stop until he was refocused with food. Sir Beaver would lunge, and snap at his glass towards the handlers hand that distracted him to begin with and continued to do so until they left. They were reapproached briefly afterwards and he is observed to be laying down and heavily panting. 05/14/25 (trainer note): Sir Beaver was standing at the front of his kennel with a loose frame as novel handler approached. When handler attempted to leash him, he ducked his head and retreated to the back of his kennel. He displayed displacement behaviors such as frequently stretching and yawning. Handler tossed him treats and tried to use treats to lure him through the leash, but he was not interested. Handler hid the leash and crouched down and Sir Beaver approached with a loose tail wag. Handler was able to clip the leash to his collar with ease and walked to the live room. He allowed the handler to clip a drag leash to his collar, and his body was loose and wiggly as he explored the room. He had no interest in treats or toys and spend the majority of the session soliciting pets from the handler. When it was time to go back, handler attempted to loop him, and he immediately darted away from the leash. Handler instead returned him to kennel by his drag leash to avoid further stressing him. 5/10/25: Sir Beaver was observed to dodge the leash, backing away as the staff member tried to leash him multiple times at the front. Sir Beaver would continue to dodge and start not to eat treats anymore. The ACS staff member was told to leave him be and come back to him when he is less stressed, a volunteer then pushes his door in shortly after trying to leash him multiple times, and he was finally looped with the leash and walked with the volunteer, he is seen to be heavily panting and pulling hard to go outside. 05/10/25 (Trainer Note): Sir Beaver was at the front of his kennel as the handler approached. He retreated as soon as the handler tried to leash him. The trainer retrieved some higher value treats, Sir Beaver was easily leashed using cheese and pulled moderately to the training room. When inside, Sir Beaver was not interested in treats and proceeded to sniff and explore the room. The trainer was able to feed Sir Beaver some higher value treats and get him to eat out of a puzzle bowl. The trainer could approach and retreat, giving Sir Beaver reinforcement when they would approach. Sir Beaver remained loose throughout, periodically orienting to the handler as they approached, this was marked and rewarded. Sir Beaver would be startled by noises outside, such as doors opening and dogs barking and displayed pinned back ears and a tucked tail. Sir Beaver solicited pets and butt scratches with a loose wiggly body before being safely returned to his kennel.

Summary (7):: 05/03/25: Sir Beaver is lying down asleep in his kennel when the handler arrives, but he will wake up and walk to the front, allowing the handler to leash him with ease. He is then brought outside for an enrichment walk. While outside, Sir Beaver maintains a neutral frame as he explores the environment, passing other dogs and people without reaction. When loud cars pass by, he begins to scan the area and displays signs of anxiety through panting. Once the session is over, Sir Beaver is escorted back to the care center and returned to his kennel safely. 04/29/25 (Trainer Note): Sir Beaver comes to the front of the kennel with a loose, wiggly body as the handler approaches. He is reluctant to be leashed, backing away, but allows the handler to lure him through with a treat after a few minutes. Sir Beaver shows interest in the snuffle mat and allows the handler to approach and retreat with a neutral body. Handler works with him a few times on lifting his head and moving away from the enrichment. He engages before losing interest and walking away. Sir Beaver shows little interest in toys. He is reluctant to be leashed again but allows the handler to lure him through. He is returned to kennel without issue. 04/25/25 (Assessment note): Sir Beaver is in his kennel and initially avoids the leash when the handler attempts to leash him. After some time, he allows leashing and is brought to the assessment room. A second handler places a collar on him, and Sir Beaver is then set free to roam the room. He allows touch from the handler but hovers over his toy and displays a tense body during the knock portion. (See behavior assessment for additional details.) Sir Beaver is returned to his kennel safely with no issues. 4/24/25: Sir Beaver is standing at the front of his kennel with a wiggly body and wagging tail. He then begins to bark and jump at the door as the handler unlocks it. He is able to be leashed with ease and taken to the yard for play group. He would explore around and he greeted the other dog with a loose body with his hackles up. Please see dog to dog notes for more details. He is able to return back to his kennel with no issues. 4/23/25: Sir Beaver greeted handler with a mildly tense frame before jumping up on kennel door. He offered a sit and displayed brief unease as leash loop approached, but did not retreat and was tolerant. He walked to the BA room where he panted heavily and displayed a clown face. He ignored treats and would tense and back away when attempts to collar were made. Sir Beaver displayed displacement/appeasement behavior by bowing/stretching. He was returned to kennel without issue.
