Summary:: Due to thrashing, alligator rolling, and screeching, Buzz will not receive a handling assessment.

Summary (7):: 8/27 (KSV): A handler approaches Buzz's kennel to take a picture. He is standing at the front of his kennel, quiet. Buzz accepts treats from the handler with a soft mouth. His body is mostly still but not frozen, ears turned outward, tail down. He does not move from the front of the kennel until the handler tosses treats into the back. He sniffs them out and then returns to the front. Once the picture is taken, the handler leaves quietly. 08/27/26 (Trainer Note): Buzz is standing in his kennel as the handler approaches with a tucked tail and pinned ears. As the handler unlocks the door he attempts repeatedly to push out. As this is prevented, Buzz begins to bark and wag his tail in a high, tight tail wag. The handler is able to drop the leash over his head and he rushes out of kennel, immediately jumping up and grabbing the leash in his mouth. He jumps up a few times before walking with the end of the leash in his mouth to the canine training room. The handler attempts to throw chicken towards him and use a squeaker to get him to release the leash, but he does not show any interest. Once they enter the training room, Buzz drops the leash and begins to bark, pulling around the room. The handler attempts to offer him various toys and treats but he shows no interest. He pulls towards the door and begins to jump up towards the leash, lunge, and arousal scream. A second handler slides their leash over his head and he attempts to grab both leashes in his mouth. The leashes are kept behind Buzz's head and he is walked back towards the kennel. He continues screaming and attempting to bite the leash, but begins to thrash as well, attempting to get the leashes off of his head. He balks at the enterance of the kennel and handlers have to muscle him in. The handlers convene with the staff in the room and decide to move him to a different kennel so he is removed again and again immediately attempts to jump up and leash bite, vocalizing as he does so. He is again muscled into kennel. Buzz pants heavily with dilated pupils. The handlers use a hook to remove the leash and he bites at the leashes as they are removed from kennel. He jumps towards the handler's fingers as they lock the door. The handlers walk away, ending the interaction.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Buzz so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.

Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to the behaviors seen in the Care Centers, Buzz should go to a home with older, behaviorally savvy children. Place with a New Hope partner: Buzz should go to a New Hope Partner that can manage his behavior.
