Animal Profile

Kasey

Hello, my name is Kasey. My animal id is #248820. I am a male brown tabby cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years old.

I came into the shelter as a aco - owner surrender on 3/3/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - medical.

Kasey is on the at risk list for medical reasons. Kasey has many small masses in both ears, as well as otitis. He will need to consult with a surgeon to remove or de-bulk the masses and he will need follow-up for his otitis. Additionally, Kasey has dental disease and will need a dental procedure with placement. Behaviorally, Kasey is nervous and tense, but has allowed medical handling.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

The staff veterinarians are issuing a TEMPORARY waiver from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY. Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment through to the resolution of the issue. At the time of a full recovery you may choose to have your veterinarian perform the spay/neuter surgery, or make provisions to return the pet to ACC for sterilization.

VOCAL:: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Curious,Timid,Independent

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful,Other,New home adjustment period

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 3

RECOMMENDATIONS:: Adult only home

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Kasey is laying in their litterbox with tilted ears and round eyes. They sniff offered scratcher tool and allow a few gentle cheek pets before adjusting and backing up slightly. When pet along their back with the tool, his skin ripples slightly. The interaction is ended and pick-up not attempted to avoid increasing Kasey's fear, anxiety, and stress. Kasey tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
