When in the room he displays a tense body and whale eyes. When the handler goes to pet him, he jumps and quickly turns towards the assessor. Boogie is avoidant of handling moving away from touch, and seeking exit. Due to this a handling assessment will not be conducted at this time. 4/23/25: Due to Boogie being sedated for medical a handling assessment is not conducted at this time. 4/22/25: Due to Boogie's fearfulness, he is given more time to decompress. 4/21/25: A handling assessment will not be conducted due to being on an RTO Hold.
Summary (6):: 5/7 (reassessment): Boogie is lying down in his kennel when approached. He jumps up and stretches as he comes to the front when the handler calls to him. He is easily leashed and walked to the behavior office. Boogie enters the office and briefly stares at the assessor but chooses to stay near the handler. Once on a drag leash, he wanders the room before returning to the handler. He jumps up into their lap, seeking petting. The assessor bends and calls him over to attempt the assessment. Once the assessment is complete, Biggie immediately runs to the handler and stays near them, lying in their lap until he is returned to his kennel. He is returned to his kennel without issue. 5/6: A novel handler approaches Boogie's kennel to take him out to get a better picture. He barks as the handler unlocks the door, but pauses when they offer a treat. He takes a piece and eats it, but leaves the rest. Boogie is easily leashed and taken to the behavior office. Once in the office, the handler switches him to a slip lead with a stopper, allowing him to roam the room. He returns to check in with the handler and they use a squeaky tennis ball to take his picture and then offer it to him. Booggie sniffs it but then turns to walk away. Due to him perking at the sound of the squeaky, the handler gets 2 small squeaky plush toys. Boigie chases one, and he alternates between the toys and chasing them. He takes a brief break between playing with the toys, sits between the handler's legs and leans on their leg. The handler has their hands folded in their lap on the couch, and he jumps up and nudges their hand with his snout, soliciting attention. He readily seeks contact after the handler gives him short, slow pets. Boogie chooses to walk away after the pets and then relieves himself. He returns to the handler and solicits more petting and tolerates being dressed with a collar and drag leash. Boogie chooses to walk away again and then shakes off. He grabs one of the toys and begins to play by himself. Once the handler can take off the slip lead with the stopper, he is then leashed and returns to his kennel without issue.
Summary (7):: 5/3/25: An ACS attempted to pick up Boogie on the sidewalk as he was walking and Boogie head whipped and snapped at there face, not making contact and the ACS staff member immediately put him down. 04/28/25: Boogie is standing at the back of kennel with a neutral frame as handler approaches. He is leashed with ease and walks out to the sidewalk on a loose lead. Boogie spends time scenting along the trees and mulch before being walked up to the play yard. Boogie relieves himself and explores the yard. He remains aloof to handler throughout his session and does not approach when called to. After his walk, Boogie is returned to kennel safely. 4/25/25: Boogie is at the back of his kennel with a neutral body, but when the door is opened he begins to shake and lip curl at the leash. Boogie is highly fearful coming out of the kennel and being leashed, and when in the behavior office whale eyes the handler, is trembling and avoiding any interaction. When the handler even puts there hand anywhere near his rear or neck to adjust his leash, his skin will jump before the hands makes contact. Boogie is brought back to kennel with no issue, and a tool is used to remove his leash on his neck, which he tolerates. 04/22/25 (late entry): Boogie is sitting at the back of kennel with a slightly tense frame as handler approaches. He is leashed with ease and slowly exits kennel. Boogie is avoidant of handlers throughout his time in the room and shows no interest in high value treats offered to him. Boogie is returned to kennel safely.
