I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 1/28/2020, with the surrender reason stated as animal health - will need ongoing vet care.

Peewee is at risk for medical reasons. Peewee has suspected underlying GI track conditions and is not thriving well at the care center. Peewee will need further consultation by a veterinarian to diagnose underlying cause and devise a course of treatment. Behaviorally, Peewee would do well in most homes.

Hx: neutered yesterday at outside facility. Reported by animal care to have not really moved out of litter box all day. Passing feces without moving and seemed to develop rectal prolapse S: QAR, allows all handling, but tense O: T: 101.0 eyes clear, mild mucoid ocular dc OU, mild watery nasal dc, mms pink mild tacky heart ok no murmur detected, lungs clear abd palp nad soft all pln wnl int healing neuter wound, feces on bottoms of HLs rectal, no prolapse at time of exam, but rectum is bulging A: healing neuter diarrhea conjunctivitis P: move to medical for monitoring overnight start metronidazole course for diarrhea and fenbendazole for broader spectrum deworming fenbendazole 100mg/ml 1.3ml PO SID x5d metronidazole 100mg/ml 0.5ml PO BID x5d 50ml sc LRS once gentamicin ophthalmic 1 drop OU BID x7d recheck for URI in am

Hx: neutered 2 days ago and developed diarrhea and small rectal prolapse. Reported as lethargic as well S: BAR in kennel, but hiding in back of cage. as per Dr 1657, placed 22 g IVC in right cephalic, set fluid pump to 10 ml/hr of LRS. Pulled blood for in-house CBC/CHem. Chem maybe did not run - may need to rerun in morning.

As per Dr. 1657, sedated exam to place feeding tube and lateral chest x-rays. Sedation: 0.2 mls of telazol given IM at 12:00 pm. Temperature taken 97.6. Placed on beach and removed IVC, no longer on fluids.

For a New Family to Know: Peewee is a medium energy, friendly, playful, shy and mellow cat. Previous owner's favorite thing about Peewee is that he is a frienly docile cat. He ate both wet and dry food from purina cat chow indoor cat brand. He liked to play with toys like strings and balls with bells. he has been kept indoors only He sleeps in his own bed and near a scratching post.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Peewee remains neutral, lying down in the back of the cubby on approach. Alert with eyes wide. Ears erect and forward. Accepts pets, but remains curled up in place. Becomes antsy on pickup and prefers to be in the cage. No interest to interact. Peewee seems to appreciate attention, and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
