Summary:: Tailor Suits was brought to the Care centers due to a possible bite. It was reported that he was running loose and bit a child on the face and she needed to go to the hospital to seek medical attention. The details of the bite were difficult to verify, even after an investigation. In the Care Centers, Tailor Suits growled and thrash during his medical exams. He is social with staff, allowing petting but due to the possibly of a bite and growling with certain touched, Tailor Suits will not receive a handling assessment.
Summary (5):: 4/14/25: ACS report that Tailor is biting the leash. This behavior is able to be redirected when using treats.
Summary (6):: 4/4/25: Taylor Suits is laying at the back of the kennel and does not comes forward until handler unlocks the kennel door. He is not interested in treats but is easily leashed and removed from kennel. He looks at the other dogs as he passes their kennel but does not pull as he seems lethargic, moving slow. He is walked in the yard where he sniffs around but will try to pull in the direction of the others back there as well. He is easily returned to kennel. 3/30/25 (PM walk)- Tailor Suits is at the front of his kennel with a soft body, when handler attempts to leash he will back away then will try to exit the kennel. He then jumped on the door still with a soft body, handler was able to leash him over the head. He was taken to the play yard and he allowed handler to easily collar him. He was placed on a drag leash and explored the pen, sniffing around. Handler sat on the bench, he followed and jumped up. He would rub his body onto handler seeking pets, he allowed handler to pet him all over. When a dog came into the neighboring pen Tailor jumped down and watched the dog walk around with a neutral body. When the other dog came over Tailor was slightly stiff with a high tail and sniffed through the gate. Other dog walked away and Tailor started to whine when the dog left. Handler called to him and he came to them with a soft body, allowing petting again. A toy was thrown into the pen and Tailor went over to sniff it. Handler called to him, he came over and handler picked up the toy. Tailor danced on his hind legs as handler spun toy around, they threw it and Tailor chased it. He just sniffed the toy but didn't return it to handler. Handler sat on the bench and Tailor jumped up seeking pets. He was easily releashed and he was a little hesitant to enter kennel, handler tossed in treats and he went in without further issue. 03/30/25: Tailor Suits is at the front of his kennel as handler approaches. His tail wags and his body briefly wiggles as handler unlocks his kennel. He jumps on his hind legs and paws at the kennel door, stopping when handler introduces the leash and begins attempting to push his head out of the kennel from the bottom. He is leashed while doing this and exits kennel out to the hall, he pulls moderately out to the street for his walk. During Tailors walk he frequently turns to handler and jumps up turning his face toward the leash with a closed mouth. He will also throw his paws forward. As this behavior continues it increases in intensity and Tailor begins to head whip when becoming tangled in the leash. He is brought back to the shelter and allows his leash to be clipped before being brought back to kennel. He stops at the front and sniffs forward but attempts to back away from kennel. He is muscled into kennel and interaction is ended.
Summary (7):: 3/29/25 (PM): Tailor Suits is at the front of his kennel as handlers approach. He is offered treats from handlers but does not accept them, he allows leashing before exiting out of kennel to the hall. He briefly stops buts after being given a moment walks forward on his own with handlers out to the yard. Once outside Tailor begins sniffing around the yard, he enters one of the play yards and continues sniffing. He intermittently approaches handlers and sniffs them, at one point jumping on the bench alongside handler and allowing petting. He approaches with a wiggly body and wagging tail when soliciting attention but remains tense and vigilant when walking. He is walked around the yard for a bit, gradually becoming looser and more neutral bodied. His leash is clipped while distracted with one of the handlers squeaky toys and is brought back to kennel. He stops at the front and does not follow treats into kennel, handler muscles Tailor into kennel and interaction is ended. 3/29/25 (late entry)- K9 behavior assisted with bringing in Tailor Suits. When handler greeted him outside Tailor was sitting by finder and had a neutral body. Handler tossed some treats but he showed no interest in them. When leashing Tailor he backed up a little but handler was able to lasso a leash into him. He slowly followed handler with his body and head low into the building. When going into the building he paused and handler softly spoke to Tailor. He started to walk again. When he got to the kennel room, he retreated momentarily. Handler softly spoke and he followed into the room, keeping his body and head low with ears pinned looking at the dogs as he past them. He had no vocalization nor pulled towards the kennel. He planted hard outside his kennel and handler tossed in treats but Tailor again showed no interest. Handler had to muscle in and he was unleashed without further issue.

Please see the handouts on handout Bite History. Leash Biting; Tailor has been observed to bite the leash. This behavior is able to be redirected when using treats. Positive reinforcement, force-free training is advised to teach them to focus on you rather than grabbing the leash. Please see handout on Leash Manners.
