Blue
Hello, my name is Blue. My animal id is #198069. I am a desexed female white dog at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 months 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 5/24/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving - no pets allowed.
Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only.
Pre-Screener FormBlue is at risk due to behavioral concerns. In the Care Centers, Blue was reported to growl, snap, evade the leash, and thrash once leashed. She displayed similar behaviors during a previous stay after being brought in following a bite incident involving an officer, which resulted in a skin-breaking injury to the officer's hand. According to her owner, Blue is affectionate with cats, children, and people she knows. Medically, Blue is apparently healthy.

Summary (6):: 6/1/26: Blue is at the back of his kennel on the kuranda bed as the handler approaches the kennel. She will approach the door as the handler and sniff the handler through the kennel door. She will then disengage and return to the back of the kennel as the handler walks away. 5/31/26: Blue is at the front of his kennel sitting on the kennel door pressed into it when the handler approaches. The handler attempts to put an enrichment item in his kennel, but due to his body blocking it, it is dropped in his food slot. Blue will low growl and move away, but sniffs the item. Blue is left alone due to his obvious discomfort.
Summary (7):: Notes from previous stay at ACC: 04/25/24 (KSV): Skylar is standing on the bars at the front of the kennel when handler approaches. She sniffs the treats the handler offers her but does not otherwise react. Handler throws a treat scatter and walks away. 04/21/24 As the handler approaches the kennel, Skylar immediately retreats to the back. The handler calls her name in a high pitch voice, tossing high value treats in which she isn't interested in. Skyler covers her face in a corner as the handler attempts to lassoes her. The handler is successful and immediately Skylar begins to thrash. Her kennel is a mess, so the handler gently guides her out of kennel as she continues to thrash. Skylar is taken to the play yard where she is kept on the lead due to her how anxious she is, panting and seeking an exit. The handler will roam around with her as she smells different areas. The handler eventually attempts to return her back to kennel where she abruptly stops right outside of the exit door. She refuses to enter the building. Another handler double ropes Skylar and they guide her back into kennel. A grabbing device was used to remove the leads from kennel. 04/19/24: Skylar is brought into the canine behavior office to conduct a handling assessment. She is tentative and approaches staff cautiously when coaxed. Skylar tolerates handling but lip licks and yawns throughout. She completes the assessment and is returned to kennel without issue. 04/19/24: Skylar is standing neutrally in kennel when handler approaches. She shies away slightly from the leash but allows handler to leash her and lead her outside. Once outside Skylar shakes off and begins to tentatively explore the environment. She occasionally glances at the handler, but does not approach or seek contact. Handler offers her treats that she does not take. She is returned to kennel without issue.
