Animal Profile

Olive

Hello, my name is Olive. My animal id is #83470. I am a desexed female chocolate dog at the . The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 months 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 12/9/2019.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Olive is at risk for behavioral reasons. Olive has a bite history and has displayed a low threshold for arousal. Olive would be best suited for placement with a new hope partner that can provide the necessary behavior modification. Medically, Olive has shown a history of gastroenteritis which may need to be monitored.

You may know me from such films as...

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

A volunteer writes: An olive may be a garnish to a martini, but any true martini fan will tell you, the olives are the very best part! Similarly our Olive will be much more than just a garnish to your life. This gentle soul will give you her whole heart. Give her a little time to open up and Olive-time will be just what you savor each and every day. At about 3 years-old, sweet Olive is a tiny bit bashful initially with new friends but don't let her shyness fool you! Once out of her kennel and into the world this little sweetheart transforms into the wiggliest, silliest worm there ever was, climbing onto your lap for snuggles, searching your pockets for more treats please! And wiggling her way into your heart. This little Olive has lots of love to give, that's for certain. Are you ready to say "Olive you?" Olive is waiting for you in adoptions at Manhattan ACC.

My medical notes are...

Potential challenges: : Anxiety,Leash-biting,Bite history (human),Low threshold for arousal

Potential challenges comments:: Bite history (human): Olive bit a volunteer who was taking her out of her kennel (see bite history), resulting in punctures on both of the person's writs. Please see handout on Bite History. Anxiety: Olive displays some anxious behavior during the handling assessment, whining, panting and seeking exit. If she displays this behavior in a new home, please refer to the handout on Anxiety. Leash-biting: Olive is quick to grab the leash in her mouth. If she displays this behavior in a new home environment, see handout on Leash Manners. Low threshold for arousal: Olive has displayed a low threshold for arousal. She has become overstimulated on walks biting the leash, and when being removed from her kennel. In the latter instance, this arousal tipped over into aggression with Olive biting the person on the wrists. Please see handout on Arousal.
