Pre-Screener Form

Ollie is at risk due to behavior reasons. Ollie was recently surrendered to us after a minor bite incident in his adoptive home. The child in the home was bitten on the hand, breaking skin. but didn't require medical attention. During both of his stays at the care center, Ollie has been tolerant of handling, including lifting in and out of a top kennel. The adopter states that he is very sweet and loves to wear sweaters. Medically, Ollie has allergies, nuclear sclerosis and is overweight.

In the previous home the resident child was attempting to lead Ollie away from the door. Ollie then bit the child on the hand, this bite did break skin. Ollie's previous owner also states that he would "nip" them when they were walking past his bed when he was attempting to sleep. Due to the detailed behaviors we recommend an experienced adult only home. What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with dogs. I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them. I am playful and cute!

Details on my behavior are...

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue

Basic Information:: Ollie is a 9-year-old male dog who has been surrendered due to a bite incident in the home. He was brought back to the shelter by his adopter after a couple of months.

Previously lived with:: 2 adults, 2 children, 6/10, 1 cat.

How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers and visitors, Ollie is friendly and social. Tolerant, playful and outgoing.

How is this dog around children?: With children Ollie is known to be friendly, social, outgoing and playful. He is tolerant as well

How is this dog around other dogs?: With other dogs, it's still not known. He has only lived with a cat as far as reported.

How is this dog around cats?: With cats, he can be tolerant but doesn't pay them much mind. In the previous home, it was reported that Ollie would nip at the cat anytime the cat would come around his bed, but other than that. He was tolerant and did not mind sharing most of the space in the home.

Resource guarding:: No resource guarding.

Bite history:: In the previous adopters home, there was a bite incident. Ollie bit a 6-year-old on the hand. The child was attempting to guide Ollie to his bed and away from a door (she did not want him to hurt himself by a closing door) Ollie ended up biting her hand quickly. No medical attention was needed but skin was broken.

Housetrained:: Yes

Energy level/descriptors:: Low

Other Notes:: Ollie has been reported to be a friendly and cuddly dog but the previous adopters found that during the hours of 6pm-8pm, Ollie begins to nip at people who are walking by his bed while he is trying to sleep. He will also nip at ankles. Again, owner reported that it only happens during those hours.

Has this dog ever had any medical issues?: No

Medical Notes: Does not currently have any medical issues.

For a New Family to Know: The previous adopters want you to know that Ollie is a very sweet dog. He would probably do best in a home with adults only and where he is the only pet. He likes to cuddle and sleep on you. He enjoys going out on walks and he goes on 5 walks a day. He takes his time walking and loves wearing his coat or sweater. He's a gentle dog that can have some protective tendencies. He likes to sit in front of you and receive kisses as rewards. His previous family really wants to exercise that he is a great dog and they would have kept him if they didn't have young children.
