Hello, my name is Muffin. My animal id is #235674. I am a male orange kitten at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 months 4 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 10/11/2025, with the surrender reason stated as not a fit - too many animals already.

Muffin at-risk list for medical reasons. Litter of 4 kittens that have been diagnosed with ringworm and are no longer tolerating topical treatment in shelter. These kittens need placement outside of the shelter for appropriate treatment and follow up. This kitten was also housed in the same room as a kitten with panleukopenia, with a possible exposure date of 10/15. Due to age, they have been deemed high-risk. Quarantine dates: 10/15-10/29.

[Spay/Neuter Waiver - Temporary] Your newly adopted pet has been diagnosed with RINGWORM and the staff veterinarians are issuing a TEMPORARY waiver from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY. Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment through to the resolution of the issue. At the time of a full recovery you may choose to have your veterinarian perform the spay/neuter surgery, or make provisions to return the pet to ACC for sterilization.

[Panleukopenia/Parvovirus exposure - HIGH RISK] Exposure date: 10/15/2025 Quarantine Start: 10/15/2025 Quarantine End: 10/29/2025 If under 5 months old the patient will have to continue to quarantine until the date listed above. If over 5 months old the patient, a Titer check must be performed to measure the patient’s protective antibody levels in order to determine if their quarantine needs to continue.

This litter of kittens are no longer tolerating their lyme dips - hissing, attempting to flee, etc. PLAN: Continue itraconazole, discontinue lyme dips at this time Seek placement ASAP outside the shelter for appropriate treatment.

Upon intake kitten was shy and fearful but tolerant of handling. Staff was able to pick up, hold, collar, scan, pet, and place in kennel with no complications.

They are eat both wet and dry food preferably Fancy Feast or Sheba, their favorite treats are Churus and they are accustomed to having access to a uncovered litterbox with scented clumping or clay litter located in the bathroom of the home.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 2
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Muffin was lying on top of the ledge with two of his siblings, his eyes were wide, ears were forward and his tail was wrapped around his body. When the kennel door was opened, Muffin moved himself tighter into the pile. As the assessor approached him with their hand, he jumped behind his siblings to hide. The assessor reached over and began petting him on the head but he remained tucked behind his siblings. The assessor stopped the interaction and focused their attention on the sibling that was by themself at the bottom part of the kennel. After a few minutes they returned to Muffin, who was now back at the front of the pile. As the assessor approached him this time, he was crouched into the pile, remaining at the front. Muffin tolerated petting from head to tail as he was tucked into the pile. He tolerated the assessor picking him up and and continued petting as well. The assessor placed him back in the cage after a few seconds and he curled himself up in the bed with his other sibling. Muffin? tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
