It is the policy of ACC not to perform surgery on any animal over the age of 8-10 years due to the higher risks incurred in a shelter setting. The veterinarian is hereby issuing a permanent spay/neuter waiver, from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY due to the estimated age of this animal. ACC does recommend you consult with your veterinarian to determine if surgical sterilization is appropriate.

Large rectangular area of recently shaved fur CNS: Appropriate mentation A: Geriatric cat Dehydration Underweight/muscle atrophy Periodontal disease Diffuse matting and poor haircoat P: Intake tasks performed SQ LRS 100 ml given CBC/CHEM/T4/UA submitted to Idexx (urine via cysto) Trimmed dewclaw nails Elected not to sedate to fully shave patient. Recommend full grooming with placement Seek placement for geriatric/palliative care **Updating medical behavior color to yellow. Allowed all handling for exam and intake tasks with occasional growling. Purred with petting and recovered from growling. Very vocal/yelling during blood draw but did not swat or fight against restraint. Recovered and leaned into petting afterwards.

Noted poor appetite on rounds, monitoring log indicates fair appetite, but food appears untouched this morning and afternoon S/O: BAR, vocal this morning No c/s/v/d noted EENT: No ocular or nasal discharge LUNGS: Eupneic MSI: Ambulatory x 4, haircoat and condition unchanged CNS: Appropriate mentation A: Hyporexia vs anorexia Geriatric Dehydration Matted, poor haircoat Dental disease Suspected OA Proteinuria 1+ - ro artifact vs true P: Start SQ LRS 75 ml SID x 3 days Start medical feedings BID x 5 days CTM closely, seek placement for fospice. If appetite does not improve, consider EHR.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Monkey was standing in front of her kennel as the assessor approached, body and face relaxed and ears forward. Monkey began vocalizing when spoken to, tail raised and she remained in front of her kennel as the cage door opened. Monkey allowed petting along her head and body while leaning in and keeping her tail high in the air as it quivered. She is so happy and excited to be interacted with. She purrs and remains calm when lifted out of her kennel and placed back inside. Monkey loves people. Monkey interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
