Celebration is on the at-risk list due to behavior. She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. What my friends at ACC say about me: I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life. A volunteer writes: Wanting to check where I was going, Celebration left her beloved box only when I walked away. I'm not sure if she was hoping I'd stay or trying to see if I'd left, but she's the type of cat who needs a little extra time to come out of her shell, or her box as the case may be. Celebration's made some progress that we're very proud of. She came to us from a home with many other cats and getting used to shelter life has left her scratching her head. She's started to eat her treats in front of us, which we think shows great progress demonstrating a little more comfort with having us around. Celebration's waiting to find a forever home who will celebrate her efforts and welcome her for exactly who she is.

Scanned neg History: Owner surrender, hoarding environment Subjective: BAR, housed with kitten Observed Behavior - crouched in back corner of kennel, growling and flighty when approached, elected to sedate for exam Is there evidence of suspected cruelty? Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by offsite vet. Medical record uploaded to Vet Documents. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision. GIVE: 0.09 ml of Meloxicam 1.5 mg/ml mg by mouth for 2 days starting the day after surgery. For pain management.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Celebration was brought in from a hoarding situation with limited information on his behavior history in a home environment.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 6/08/26 FB61 Slow-blinking at me hard from the back of her perch upon approach, body and face tense with her tail wrapped tightly around her. She is offered squeeze-ups and a toy which she does not engage with until I've closed the door and have walked away. I speak to her softly and spray feliway on her cage cover and she remains completely still and focused on me with a tense expression. Needs time. 6/16/26 FB25 She is sitting on her perch with a tense body, her limbs tucked under her, and low eyelids. She does return a few slow blinks. I offer her treats and she hisses at seeing my hand move. I stand still and talk softly with her and she doesn't hiss again. I leave her with extra treats. 6/18/26 FB79 Peaking through the cubby glass, Celebration has a low body, wide/dilated eyes and her ears tilted as i work in the next door kennel; however when i look over at her and start to approach her she flinched and darted into the main part of the kennel with a low almost wrapped tail. She jumped to the top and when i opened the kennel door she curled up with her ears almost flat as i started to speak to her - she soon started to slow blink but her eyes remained wide/dilated. I left her some treats on a tray and didnt push contact today. 6/29/26 FB25 Celebration is on top of her ledge. She has a crouched body and very dilated eyes, watching me with a hard stare. I attempt slow blinks but she doesn't return them. I crack open the kennel door and place squeeze up inside. Her eyes become wider and she lip-licks, moving farther away from me. I close the kennel door and switch to offering squeeze up through the crack in the kennel. She seems slightly more interested in this, leaning forward to sniff it, but still does not take it while I stand there. Hopefully she goes for it when she's alone. 7/8/26 FB58 She is sitting loafed near the front of the shelf, pupils not dilated but eyes somewhat wide as she backs away somewhat when the door is opened. She allows me to place the tuna cup near her but doesn't sniff or eat it and is offended by treats being lightly tossed near her. I close the door and place a linen to cover it. 7/11/26 FB79 Such a shy sweet girl; when i tried to enter the kennel, Celebration started to dart out of her hidey box and her eyes dilated as she remained half in and half out of the box while watching me closely for further movement, I chose to not make contact and speak/slow blink at her. After a few moments her settled down and her eyes became soft/almond as she low blinked back with forward ears. However she remained still/frozen while half out of her box. GAN

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: 6/7/26 Celebration has a low body and wrapped tail as she lays behind the litter box in the cubby; she had no reaction when the assessor used the tool to pet the top of her head as well as down and around her body. Celebration had no interest in treats that were offered and remained still/tolerant. However, when the assessor returned to petting with the tool, her ears flattened and she turned to harshly hiss at the tool as it ran down his back. Celebration‘s eyes were wide/dilated - her shoulders were hunched in as she hissed harshly, jumped up, launched forward and darted into the main part of the kennel. She crouched in the main part of the kennel with an arched back flat ears, and her tail wrapped as she watched the assessor with dilated eyes for further movement. Pick up was not attempted at this time. 7/7/26 Celebration is on the ledge in her crate. Her body is stiff with her tail wrapped around herself and her pupils are wide. She watches the assessor closely as the kennel door is open pushing herself further into the back corner. When offered some push up treat on a tool, she does not respond. The assessor touches her face and neck using a tool, she opens her neck slightly to the interaction. The assessor touches her torso using a tool, she does not react, maintaining her stance. The interaction is ended, some push up treat is left for her to eat. Celebration is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. She is very apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she does attempt to flee and avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if she will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
