Prada
Hello, my name is Prada. My animal id is #262676. I am a male merle dog at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 3 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 8/28/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance - landlord won't allow.
Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only.
Pre-Screener FormPrada is at risk due to behavior concerns. Prada has shown high kennel stress and deterioration during his time at the Care Center, including jumping and barking in his kennel, and biting at his water bowl, leading to injuries to his mouth and paws. Prada also engages in kennel fighting, which has resulted to a redirect onto a handler's leg that did not break skin. He has shown conflicted behavior when handled, approaching the handler with a loose body when coaxed and seeking proximity, but then tensing and chuffing. Medically, Prada is largely healthy but has recently been treated for wounds on his feet.

Medically, Prada is largely healthy but has recently been treated for wounds on his feet. Prada was surrendered to Care by his previous owner due to housing issues. His previous family described him as a social, affectionate, playful, and very active dog. He preferred to spend most of his time wherever his family was in the home, enjoyed bath time/water, loved car rides, walks in the park, and playing with toys. He was fed a dry kibble diet of Blue Buffalo. During his stay in care, Prada has shown conflicted behaviors when interacting with handlers. He has hard work, ground, and huffed at handlers when attempting to conduct his handling assessment. After being given treats and spoken to softly, he becomes Wiggly and will approach handlers, but when attempting to engage, he immediately retreats and begins huffing again. When attempting to start his handling assessment, he begins huffing in the Assessor's face after they attempt to create distance. Due to these concerns, we recommend for product be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope Rescue partner that can allow him the time and space to decompress at his own pace.

Staff reported blood all over kennel unclear where it is coming from. CB walked P into main medical -P was ping ponging at end of leash, whining, barking, and panting persistently. Mixed dried and frank blood was seen all over ventrum and distal limbs and origin was unable to be determined due to hyperactivity / movement. Flagged for behavior staff to inspect kennel and see if any way to change environment to help limit Ps ability to cause self-trauma. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only
Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner
Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): due to products discomfort with touch, novel stimuli, and the potential for defensive behaviors we recommend for him to be placed in an adult only home at this time. Place with a New Hope partner: Prada has not acclimated well to the shelter environment and has only allowed for minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement With a New Hope partner.
Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration,Bite history (human)
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: probably began hard barking and growling and chuffing at handlers in the behavior office when attempting to conduct his handling assessment. Similar behaviors were displayed during his medical exam. He shows the potential to show sociable behaviors but easily becomes conflicted during interactions. Please see handout on fearful / potential for defensive aggression. On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration| Bite history (human): At the Care Center, Prada has been observed to kennel fight when walking through kennels and has redirected onto his handler in this situation. Please see handout on On-leash reactivity and barrier frustration.
