He has a heart murmur and needs to be in a less stressful environment. Behaviorally, Mikkie has been sweet and social - allowing all handling. What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. Mikkie was at the front, curious and sweet, and enjoyed all petting, leaning in very nicely for cheek rubs, and enjoyed petting along his back with a high tail and a relaxed face. He ignored treats and then easily went into the assessor's arms, where he lay for a couple of minutes and seemed reluctant to go back into the kennel, but once back inside, he ate some treats and then looked out at the assessor. Mikkie interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.

For a New Family to Know: Mikkie is an active and chatty cat! He loves to hang in the living room, watching the world out the window. An independent guy, Mikkie prefers contact on his own terms and to watch the action from afar. When Mikkie decides it's playtime, he is always gentle. He enjoys chasing and pouncing on toys, and playing fetch. He's used to interactive playtime once per day. When on his own, Mikkie likes to scratch on carpet/fabric, cardboard, or a scratching pole. Sometimes he will scratch the house carpet too. Mikkie is a guard cat and loves to be around his favorite people. He is most active at night, and will meow as he plays on his own. Mikkie is used to eating dry food (Purina One High Protein Natural Indoor Advantage) and wet treats. He has previously had 1 uncovered litterbox with unscented litter. According to his previous owner- "Mikkie is an active, playful senior cat with a big personality. He enjoys running, jumping, and often gets the zoomies- especially in the evenings. He can be vocal at times and may meow or yelp by the door when he's feeling energetic or curious. Mikkie prefers affection on his own terms and can become overstimulated with prolonged handling, but he communicates his boundaries clearly."

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/14/25 FB32 Curled up on top of den, gets up and turns around to face the front when spoken to and opening the door. Welcomes petting on the head, leans in for cheek rubs. Removed belongings out of the room to prepare for transport. Rotated and leaned the den to have him climb down. Walks to the front for more attention. Easily pulled to take a few steps out of the kennel. During pick up, he is calm and relaxed, rests his front limbs on my arm, and allows petting all over when held and hugged for 5 seconds. Unbothered when transferred into the den.
