Animal Profile

Koupa

Hello, my name is Koupa. My animal id is #132145. I am a desexed female white cat at the . The shelter thinks I am about 6 years 1 months 2 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a agency on 12/6/2021.

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Koupa is on the emergency placement list due to behavior. Although Koupa accepts petting and leans in for cheek rubs, she doesn't seem to be thriving at the care center. It was noticed that she hasn't been eating for the past couple of days despite coaxing and offering a variety of food. She also seems to be wary of the environment, often looking around with dilated pupils and retreating to her hidey box when she feels overwhelmed. Due to their stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust.

Let's get to know each other a bit more...

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life. It could be with you! Details on my behavior are...

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue

KNOWN HISTORY:: Koupa was brought in as a stray, there is no known information on her behavior history in a home environment.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/7/21 Lying in back of kennel, body low and tense. Head is resting on kennel floor. She tolerates petting along her head and shoulders while titling her ears and turning to watch my hand with wide eyes. Nervous girl, gentle but unsure. She sniffs the tuna offered and begins eating it after I've walked away. Needs some time. 12/8/21 Lying at the back of the kennel. She makes eye contact with slightly dilated pupils; tensing up a little when the kennel was opened. She leans forward to sniff the treats but doesn't eat them right away. She accepts gentle pets on the head, leaning in slightly for cheek rubs; ears remaining mostly forward. Seems a bit more calm today. Offered a hiding spot. 12/10/21 Reported not to be eating by medical. He was lying underneath the kuranda bed on approach today, eyes slightly dilated. He remains in place when spoken softly, sniffs the hand and accepts gentle petting, leaning in for cheek rubs. She seems wary of her surroundings, looking around and keeping her body low throughout. The interaction was kept short to reduce the amount of stress. She was given a big hidey box with some feliway as well as a double shor-line to reduce stimuli. Let's see how she does. 12/11/21 She was lying in her box on approach. She remained in place throughout the interaction, enjoying cheek rubs but still wary of the surroundings. It was noticed that she didn't eat yesterday either so she was moved to a low foot traffic room to see if she would relax and start to eat there. 12/15/21 Lying on top of her kuranda. She tenses up, wrapping her tail around her body and faces the back wall to avoid interacting. She doesn't eat chicken broth despite coaxing, all of her food bowls untouched. She accepts petting but shifts away with ears to the side, very uncomfortable. She hissed once at the medical staff when she was opening the door to give meds. Seems to be deteriorating as she now doesn't enjoy touch as before.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 3

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Koupa is an adorable, puffy girl who is still warming up to our care center and who may need some time to warm up to her new home. Koupa was lying in the back of her kennel as the assessor approached, ears tilted and body low. Koupa made eye contact when spoken to, pupils dilated, then looks around the room with wide eyes as the kennel door opens. Koupa tolerates petting along her head and body while turning to watch the assessor's hand, then turning away and retreating through her portal with a low body and tail. Pick up was not attempted at this time to reduce stress. Koupa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
